Tank has a horrible reputation, Most of the hate for China bikes probably comes from people who had one of those. Odd enough a few have gotten very good reviews on here......Who knows.

Dumb question:

Isn't a Tank just a Lifan, same as everyone else that is not on a Q or a Zong?

Not a dumb question, but no, this bike is manufactured by Xi Motors which is a Taiwanese company. However, more than likely, this bike is manufactured in China, by an OEM.

Keep in mind that Lifan is not necessarily the manufacturer of its own products, but might be made by contractors; i.e. Hibird is one of these subcontractors--maybe not all of HiBird's bikes, but as an example, the old HiBird dirtbike was identical to Lifan's GY-2 enduro.

BTW, I found a distributor for this bike, and I have been a "dealer" for them for a few years now, so I have access to dealer pricing for their lineup. This bike has a MSRP of $3199 according to the site, so the $3499 seems a little excessive.

If anyone is interested, I can get you one of these (in theory) drop shipped, for a lot less than $3199. Let me know.

I, thought, a long time back, we had figured the Tank 200 was a Zong Shen motor? Maybe I remember wrong.

I remember. The book I got with my Tank is by Zong Shen. I guess that's why I have had no trouble with the engine.
