Thanks for the info! def gonna look into them to see if i can get them in the proper sizes for my DT250 and XL185. I have Dunlop Trials tires on the DT now but they are so old it isnt even funny...these have a similar tread.

Just be aware that these are a six ply tire for a heavy bike.

Fair enough, Good to know even though on the flipside that may help me considering i am a heavier rider. Just something i need to ponder.

Looking good! how was the apple trip? Curious to hear how the mrs liked the sidecar on the road. my GF is not liking my seat so much, but that was about a 250 mile day, mostly highway.

Mrs C. likes this rig so well that we're taking it to southern Wisconsin tomorrow to get apples. About a 130 mile round trip.

Mrs. C loved the trip. We did 116.2 miles per the recalibrated Trail Tech. Her only gripe is that the only view to her left is a camo colored motorcycle. She says the seat in the tub is very comfortable. She brought along a wool blanket to keep warm and it worked well. There is a 12v socket in the sidecar that can be used for heated gear if we go that route. With a 50A Denso alternator, it shouldn't be an issue.

Gas mileage left a bit to be desired, I hit reserve at 75 miles, but I didn't have a full tank when I did the reset. Then again, the Ural weighs in at 736 empty. Throw me and Mrs. C in there, plus gear and apples and we are probably pushing close to 1200 lbs. Add the bricklike aerodynamics and I wouldn't be surprised that we'd be doing gallons per mile. Still, around 21 mpg.

I did try the 2wd today. We were trying to back out where we parked at the orchard and it was loose gravel. The pusher just dug in. I engaged the 2wd and walked right out. And it doesn't steer worth a damn in 2wd. As soon as I was out and pointed home, I put it back in 1wd.

While doing the brakes yesterday I found the the u-joints for the sidecar axle are not long for this earth. I found a Ural cross-reference chart and the Precision 134/Spicer 111 is a perfect fit. $13.46 each from Rock Auto. Ordered two. The new tires howl a bit.

Changing out all the fluids tomorrow after work, followed by a complete tune up on Friday morning. I should have all the PO fingerprints off of it by then.

That mpg figure is interesting! In all the videos and articles I've read there has never been much mention of the fuel economy of these rigs. I would have thought better than 21... But then again, my GL1200 only did around 30mpg or so, and it's lighter and has less rolling resistance than the Ural.

Actually a smoking deal on one a few hours away from me.. Tempting!

I'll be doing another mileage check on the next tank.

Did all the fluids tonight. Engine oil was black, trans was clean but way over filled, and final drive was like tar and very low. Set up for winter now.

my nomad/sidecar gets about 30 mpg. between weight and wind resistance, MPGs get killed. prior to sidecar I was at about 30-40.

That strikes me as a good decision for a two-wheeled adventure bike, along with extra heavy duty tubes.

Mileage has gotten a bit better, up to about 25 now.

Almost eerie how much you and i think alike on this one Weld....far better puncture resistance on a lighter machine like a DT or XL. Hmmm now i will def need to give this idea some more thought

On the plus side, the Duros are not super spendy but you'll need to shop around. In the 4.00 x 19 I need, I found them for under $60usd each, but I've seen them as high as $134usd at Ural dealerships.
