Which do you prefer, presta i assume? I found it interesting that the stans notubes enduro kit came with schrader valves....

Yup, presta.
Jeff will probably tell me to take the wheel from the bin if he has one because no one else wants it.

I hate the presta valves. First thing I do to a new bike is remove them and drill the hole out for Schrader valves.

"Springer fork, and tab on the head tube for a horn and a tank make me think this as a late forties to early sixties cruiser."

Somebody on a vintage bicycle forum though it may actually be a Flightliner cruiser, as you suggested, Cheesy. I wondered what that tab on the head tube was.

-I'm OK either way. I like Spyders and Flightliners. I will know more on Friday, when I actually get my hands on it.

Headlight, I assume.

Good point. I didn’t think of the Flightliner and it’s headtube mounted chromed dual headlight. I lusted after those when I was kid. Classmate had a blue one while I had a plain Jane red Evans.

Got a freebie 27" rim from Jeff yesterday. Not pretty, but usable. Already swapped out, trued, and back on the Raleigh.
The old rim was toasted and not lightly.

Unpacked the Sears mystery bike today. It is indeed a Flightliner cruiser, but it takes 24in wheels. I tried a 26in wheel on it but it was too big. I had thought only girls Flightliners had 24in wheels. I guess that explains why the seller thought it was a Spyder.

Finally, finally, finally, got out on a somewhat extended ride on the new Fat Bike this morning. A mix of road, paved trail, and off road along a transmission line ROW. Caught two branches to the face and need remember how to relax my upper body while bouncing over frozen deer tracks. Legs are fine, upper arms are toast. Very possibly an afternoon nap with my name on it.
I was pleasantly surprised when I walked back into the house and Mrs. C was in the middle of making Christmas jam. Smells great.

Thumbs Up

Been riding about 10 years and racing about 6 years, last race of 2018 was 116 miles of pure Ozark pain. I'm not any good but I'm out there haha. Love the bikes!!

Good on ya! Though I am a ‘steel is real’ guy, aka old fart, those are nice looking rigs.
Now I’ll bore you to death.
I did crits in the early eighties, which I sucked at.
Mid eighties to early nineties, I did ultramarathons. That I was decent at but without sponsorship, it was too expensive to do with a family.
Did local TTs from mid nineties to early aughts. Again sucked and I found them boring as hell.
Switched to the velodrome in 05 to 07. Wish I’d started there in the eighties. I still sucked, but it was a blast. 35mph on a banked track with no brakes. That’ll get your heart pumping.
The racing career ended when I had an altercation with the front end of a Mitsubishi while on my fixed gear touring bike.

Now, it’s smell the roses rides. Either solo or with one of the grandkids.

I finally bought a donor bike so I can make progress on the Flightliner frame and fork. Shown here with 24" mountain bike wheels. The knobby tires make it look like a klunker.

Chiptoothy... looks like you’re in my area of the world. Very familiar with the Joe Martin race although I’m not a roadie. If it’s not hurting and you’re not climbing then you aren’t pushing yourself hard enough lol. 116 miles in the Ozarks is badass, my hats off to ya!
Cheesy....great job getting out there in the cold.
Here’s a pic of me and the wife’s ride a couple days ago. We try to ride 3-4 days per week
