Agreed...looks good, and Borneo just sounds cool. Do you have fuel bottles on the rear of your side cases? I couldnt tell. If so, please post a pic. Im interested in the idea but just have the stock cases on, not the big aluminum ones. Looking for ideas.

Finally put on my new Unibear non-o-ring chain and rode it! Just like the one on the TT250, it's silent.

Fiberglass wrapping for the exhaust pipe
Hi!
After burning a hole on my pant yesterday I´ve wrapped black fiberglass tape over the exhaust pipe, looking to isolate most of the heat and some of the noise: Used something similar to this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-2-1M-Fiberglass-Exhaust-Manifold-Header-Pipe-Downpipe-Heat-Wrap-Tape-/401214230838?hash=item5d6a3b5136:g:yUAAAOSwcLxYEI9 ~&vxp=mtr A 10m roll allowed to apply 2 layers at two thirds of the full pipe length. So far, so good. At the first ride it smelled and smoked, but as long as I know it is normal and should disappear after a while.

Nice! I still have a ton of wrap left from the TT250 project. I may wrap mine just to get rid of that dang heat shield buzz!
Good idea, EC.

Me too! Except I wrapped the pipe that I added that connects the header to the Akrapovic muffler. Note to anyone doing this job: 1. Wear gloves. Fiberglass will itch for a good long time 2. Don't panic after washing the bike. The fabric will asborb water and will steam-off as the pipe warms up |

100% agree. Fiberglass will fly and sit all over the place and surroundings, so would add this: - Do this at an open place. - Safety googles! Preferrably those that seats and seals around the eyes. On my previous post forgot to comment about how to fix the fiberglass tape in place: used stainless steel tie wraps.

Also, soak the stuff in a bucket of water prior to install. That helps the glass/titanium sliver factor, it helps keep the stuff in place while wrapping and as a bonus, it shrinks a little when it dries.

I cleaned and adjusted the chain. I had forgotten to adjust the chain two weeks ago when I did the 5000 Mile oil change and valve job.
I installed and programmed a SpeedoDRD and then took the bike for a test spin. It sure is nice to know how fast I and the traffic are moving without having to do the math in my head. Just rolled over 5800 miles.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Here in Southern California, it turned out to be a pleasant and warm day. In other words, a perfect day to ride! I took the RX3 out along the coast and stopped in at Huntington Harbor for a few pictures. I hadn't ridden he RX3 in a couple of months since I've been busy, but the bike ran beautifully and despite me adding a few pounds from stress eating, the RX3 didn't care one bit. I made a couple of adjustments to the bike. Those adjustments and thoughts: 1. Shifter pedal adjustment: I adjusted the pedal upward one notch. It felt better to keep my foot level on the foot peg, but I noticed that I was having to make exaggerated movements to downshift. Given this, I'm going to adjust the shift pedal back to its original position. 2. I installed the 90 degree Celsius thermostat. I noticed that the bike likes to run right on the cusp of 3 bars now (and as others have reported), but the engine performed well and seemed to make the same power. After my 45 mile ride, I noticed that the OCS tube had a little bit of liquid in it - maybe a 1/4 inch. I am guessing the high temperature thermostat is burning off water and fuel in the oil, especially since the bike hadn't been started in a couple of months. Overall, a very pleasant ride. It felt great to be back on 2 wheels, and the RX3 still continues to impress. [IMG][/IMG] |

Oh! I thought it was a magic e-gadget that told you it was only 2.2 miles to the next bar!
