Dan, I did the same thing first time around and ended up taking some back out. Now I put in about 1 1/2 qts, then start it for a few minutes make sure filter and drain bolts are not leaking. Then I top it off.
I think it was Spud who said to just add 1.7 qts and it will be right. I believe it does ebb and flow from tranny to engine so in the window it appears to rise and fall making some of us early on think that gas or water was getting in our oil.

I have also learned to pull the slotted oil cap on the clutch cover when adding oil. I think this allows air to escape and allows the two volumes to equalize more quickly. I even have a highly specialized tool for this; they only cost a nickel!

I gave Ryan at CSC a good report on the 13T C/S sprocket. I'm sure CSC would like to stock the 13T sprocket, but they can't get them from Zongshen. I'm pretty sure Zongshen doesn't manufacture sprockets; they get them from another manufacturer. CSC merely needs to have Zongshen tell them the name of the manufacturer, and then CSC can stock the 13T sprocket.

Eric, that certainly looks like a bit of a tricky section. Was there much wheel spinning with the stock tires or more of a just running out of torque at lower engine RPMs? I'm excited and a little worried to give a try my self. I went right up on the XT250 last year but all the snow was gone by Sept.

Snow was off the road. I'm running 50/50 tires now so it was really just a torque issue.

The engine in my Honda XR650L has a similar design, with a 2-chamber oil pump. Basically, you need to measure the oil when the engine is at operating temperatures. A good time to check the oil level is right after you return home, or whenever you fill up the fuel tank during a ride. Putting 1.7 quarts of oil in the engine has worked well for me.

I now fill the engine oil using the slotted cap. The oil goes in very fast, and I don't need to worry about getting burned by the hot exhaust header.

My engine rpms have increased a bit, but not excessively. My gas mileage has remained at 70 mpg. If you lug the engine, you will hurt fuel mileage. Basically, the 13T sprocket allows my engine to keep operating in the ideal rpm range, which increases power and maintains fuel mileage.

A lighter rider operating at sea level will probably prefer the stock, 14T C/S sprocket. However, heavier riders, such as I, and riders living far above sea level will definitely prefer the 13T C/S sprocket.

I think it's great that CSC is going to stock the 13T C/S sprocket. It is very easy to experiment with this sprocket, and see if you like the increased torque.

Good news that CSC will carry the 13T. I'm definitely going to order one! Wish I already had one. I'm going on a long ride through Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Lake and Winter Park tomorrow. Those elevations and grades will definitely put the RX3 through its paces.

I installed a SpeedoDRD, so my speedometer is accurate. I calibrated my speedometer with a GPS unit.

At an actual speed of 65 mph, my tachometer reads 7,600 rpms. At an actual speed of 58 mph, which probably reads 65 mph on the 'optimistic' stock speedometer, my tachometer reads 6,800 rpms.
