3' of 13/16" diameter 1144 steel rod and 1' of 5/8" diameter 544 phosphor-bronze rod.
Not as interesting as what Jerry is doing.

28" short shovel with a D handle. Contractors stole my old one more than a decade ago while doing some cement work at the old house, and I just need one of these now and then.
28InchShovel.JPG Naturally, it doesn't have the steel and wood handle. Instead, it has a cheap plastic handle that isn't tight on the wood stem-moves. I am sure it won't last. And the spade is angled too much, narrow foot tabs, and thinner 16 gauge steel. I bought my old one about 30 years ago to dig under a sidewalk section to level it. It had nice straight throw action. I might take this one back and keep looking. I am sure that I can find a better one, for at least twice the price Edit: scratch that. I will live with it. All of the short shovels I find have the new plastic D handle, with exception of a few high end shovels that cost over $100, even over $200

I ordered up a set of Kenda K257D Klassic DOT legal knobbies in 3.00x21 front, and 4.10x18 rear. I've already had the heavy duty tubes and rim locks waiting around for my tire change. After a little trail riding yesterday, I realized just exactly how terrible the stock tires on my TT250 are on the dirt, especially the front tire. I had originally planned on wearing them down some before replacing them, but while they're perfectly serviceable on the pavement, they're absolutely a hazard off road.

More personal preference mods to come. |

Front loading washer shock absorbers
I got a free Samsung washer. Guess what? The phrase 'made in China" is printed on the model/serial number tag. Imagine that. Nice washer/dryer set. Maybe 8-10 years old. In need of some maintenance.
The washer had started to bump and knock and previous owner apparently attempted to replace the shocks ... I could tell someone was in there, and they were not OEM shocks. I bought the companion dryer for $150 and refreshed the rollers, idler pulley and belt. It works great now. He offered me the washer for free, and I figured what the heck, how bad can it be. Well, it wouldn't drain the barrel in a driveway test...it needed a drain pump (~$24) and a good cleaning. Then it seemed to work fine, but no, it bumped and slammed inside during spin cycle once I ran a load. But the drum was rolling OK (not the spider bracket), and the bearings had not failed. Classic shock failure symptoms. But, the replacement shocks I got had more than 10mm free play And when the dampening engages, it is weak! Can you believe this massive freeplay in a brand new shock? All 4 of them did this, some worse than others! I will be returning them. So here we go again. Trying another set: WasherShocks.jpg

A 1/3 hp sump pump to remedy my flooding basement......the float switch shorted on the old one. I was watching it spark under 1 1/2 ft of water

The GFCI circuit did what it was supposed to. While troubleshooting, I tried a different (non GFCI) outlet....that's when I got the brief light show and discovered why the pump quit. At that point the water hadn't risen above the edge of the pit yet. Dumb move on my part, I know, but I panicked knowing that the water was rising.

Started working on a deal to possibly buy a '77 Triumph TR7 last night, Going to look at the car today and if i like what i see i will probably pick it up on pay day. Funny enough i talked to the guy about this car about a month ago and he was asking more then i was willing to pay for it at the time. He was asking $4500 but he came back to me last night and said he would let it go for $800. I think he talked to some people between the two points and they let him know what a more fair price was considering it isnt all original any more with having a Ford 2.9 V6 swapped in.
Pic from the sellers post, Will get some tonight when i look at it.

That would have been a conversation with the ex... But with the new gf her reaction was "And why isn't it in our driveway yet?"

Nice!! My dad had a TR7 when I was a young kid and we bought him a second one for Father's day back in the late 90's. Great car, assuming you can overlook the Lucas electricals!
