They likely had the preload cranked up for giant fat Americans like me. Is there any damping adjustments that can be made on the rear, or preload only?

I went out and measured the sag. To my very (not) accurate measurements, I have about 4 inches of sag in the back, from back tire off the ground to me sitting on it. I think that's too much. It would be just about right for 12 inches of travel, but I'm betting it doesn't have that.

I'm going to try adjusting the preload with a punch, taking the shock out was a bit time consuming. The "good" part about taking all the linkage apart was the greasing the needle bearings and bolts in the linkage. The not so good part was three hands would have helped a lot. Seems whom ever assembled the suspension used thread locker, or just got the bolts really tight.

Punch worked just fine. I added a hair more than 1/4 inch preload, which helped the side stand be less spooky. A very short test ride, and I still think it's a bit stiff. I'll get a couple of hundred miles on it and maybe it will fix itself.

I'm only 175 lbs. And find the rear suspension to be on the soft side.

Might just need some time to loosen up. New suspension can be a bit stiff sometimes

Hey guys anyone else’s rear tire rubbing on the muffler? My heavier friend rode for about 15 min and my rear tire side lugs are now vertical on the muffler side. I’ll probably have to get a new tire now, it’s bad.

There have been a couple of reports of others that had an issue. No problem with mine rubbing. Contact American Lifan about the issue and they will send you a spacer kit and bolt. contact@americanlifan.com

They better send another rear tire too! That’s crazy that they don’t at least give you a warning that that could happen. my friend could have gotten seriously injured if it would have melted through(which it would have if he hadn’t been a seasoned rider and noticed)!

From what i' was told it only happened on a few bikes. Contact them and let them know exactly what has happened. I'm positive they will take care of it.

Edit: Contact Venom as well.

Venom contacted, we’ll see how long my bike is down and if they send me this spacer kit. In the mean time I took everything off to get to the muffler and added two ~0.3” spacers between the muffler and the frame and it seems to have kicked it out just enough to clear the tire. I will keep everyone updated.

On a different note has anyone explored slip on exhausts? Removing the big factory can may also help this problem.

Not yet, I'm kind of enjoy the quite exhaust. I'm sure you can just whack off the stock can and find one that will fit the exhaust pipe size.

It Might. I haven't measured the tail pipe but looks to be around 1 1/2" O.D. so could work. People have mounted that exhaust on a Hawk and a Magician.
