Got the digital dash a few days ago, supposed to be here by Friday. Just ordered the Nibbi PE28FL, will also be here Friday.

That was the one thing I didn't quite understand about the PZ30 carb that comes with the Hawk 250. Yesterday I finally decided to dig into it. Pulled that carb off a few times. Ripped the cap off so I can get to the air mixture screw. Cut slots into the bowl screws to get them out and updated to some nice Philips head screws with lock washers. Somehow I was under the impression that once I dug into it, it could be tuned. False.

Finally realized it needed a bigger pilot jet, like they ALL do, and hit the pilot jet wall of the PZ30. Also found out that the needle cannot be changed out, similar to the pilot jet. It's basically a paper weight.

I did not buy another Honda, I swear

I did drop $250 and buy a 110cc little wheelie-machine based on a CRF110. Apparently, when your landlord finds out you have been keeping it inside your apartment and it specifically violates the terms of your lease, you need to unload it pretty quickly or get evicted. It’s not amazingly, by aaaaaany means, but it’s a price performer.

I'd venture to say that the only thing remotely related to a CRF110 are the plastics, the engine is (probably) a Lifan 110 (107cc) with a 52.4mm bore and a 49.5mm stroke. The hydraulic forks, MX-style swingarm, and disc brakes F & R are also a big plus.
Run it with an oiled foam pod-style air filter, or you'll be in for a crash course on how to do a top end rebuild, even those little carbs can suck in large quantities of air, dust, and dirt real quick.

I was thinking mostly of the frame design. This thing is going to need a head-to-toe going through before it gets play. Previous-previous owner left it with girlfriend when the broke up, so she sold it off for nearly nothing out of spite. Previous owner had zero tools - so, starter died, switched to using a drill to start it (no kick start), for example. I’ll treat it like new, throw it up on the bench, and go through the whole of it - what needs to be done and then what should be done and what do I want to be done… because. Scrapping this 110 right out the gate for… a 150 manual with kickstart and starter would be $500+

I may have bought another motorcycle today.

I mean - what counts as a motorcycle? Something with a title? If that’s the case, I did not and I’m on really safe ground with the Mrs because I keep telling her that I only own 4 motorcycles no matter what she sees in the garage (or how many engines she counts out there).

But a frame? A frame with an engine? Well… sh*t. Then I’m screwed. I bought another motorcycle. My recent pit bike purchase has a crap of a frame that I figured I was going to need to repair; main engine mounts from which the engine hangs are both broken so I’d need to fab something up and do it right when the bike was all stripped down.

Or would I?

Found a guy listing a frame for $50, and from photos, looked… great. Oh, and had an engine attached. Meet him, look at it, says he sacrificed a running bike for parts for other bikes. Frame looks great, engine is 4-speed manual Lifan. Shoot - $50 for the frame was a good deal.

Post up a few pics of your latest "non-rolling group of various items"...

Here, those things are commonly referred to as.............parts "for a project" and, as such, do not qualify as buying another motorcycle.

Plus, two or three separate trips over a few months' time raises less suspicion, and after a year qualifies as "building a bike from all the spare parts I had laying around".

I need to look at starting a thread for this thing, after the holidays. I need to sit down and pick it apart enough to figure out what it's going to take to go from version 0.0 to version 1.0, to the point where it's got a running engine and some kind of idea on all of the major parts.

At first glance, I thought you bought a 1.5 liter bottle of Jack for 10.00! I don't do Jack but that's still a deal to have in the bar for guests who prefer that flavor.

Part number three for my pit bike build: a complete exhaust system. Woohoo, cost me $20.

So, I have a frame of unknown origin but that looks to be solid, a Lifan 125cc that the PO said was a 4 speed manual (but that does have a shifter on it, so that’s a good sign). And now I have an almost complete exhaust off of an SSR125 (missing the little gasket thing, and he had one hanger but who knows what I will actually need for hangers, yada yada yada the life of making something from scratch.)

And then in the corner of the garage, there’s the absolute POS donor that might never actually see a piece of it used, the Mototec X1 with the bad frame, 110cc semiautomatic engine, smaller rims and wheels, and a history of abuse. It’s not like I even need a title to move around - I may end up using it for bearings and pieces and parts once they get cleaned (hello, ultrasonic) and assessed for worthiness to be used any more. There’s a guy nearby with a KLX110 swingarm that I might need to go take a look at - a whopping $30.
