Still know nothing. On the other hand, staying away from HQ since October has been quite relaxing. About the only communication I have with anyone there are Harold, a couple of the good folks on the floor that I’ve taught the art of ‘The End Run’, and the Saggy one. The Saggy one and I have entered into something of a truce. Kind of like, ‘You keep your nose out of my business, I will keep mine out of yours’. Mess with me and you are going down.
It may still be awhile before I go back. I did find out that they sold a 360 crane with every available option and guess who will get to install all those said options. Uh huh. Could be there a month. But I won’t be going until everything arrives from Europe and that could be months.

Well, hell. Just got word that I earned some more job security. That new machine that left Beaufort back in October threw a rod last night. About all I know is that after my bosses found out, the question of who was to be involved in the repair was put to Harold. He said that Jason and I were to be the only North American personnel to touch the machine. Not one living cell from Beaufort was to get near it. There are rumblings that some things with the engine prep were done incorrectly.

Al said people were getting fired over this which prompted the same reply both Jason and I. “Now? That needed to happen over a year ago.” Al kind of retreated after that.

Some good news for once.
There is another reorganization in process. The Gimpy One has had his peepee slapped and slapped hard. He has been stripped of much of the power he thought he had and it appears that he and his cohorts are getting ready to be shown the door. The Saggy One has been doing what she has been paid to do, so I think she will be staying. Some of the deadwood on the floor are being cut, too.
Suddenly, those who felt they knew more than the Elgin staff are begging for our help now to save their asses. Sorry, not happening.
All of the Elgin staff are being kept on except Marlene.
Marlene did not have her contract renewed and is done at the end of the month. She has become so negative that Al is considering to pay her through April and have her leave now. Marlene knows her shit but has been an absolute pain in the ass to work with for the last 22 years. Going to miss her knowledge but not her. A shame she has no interests outside of work. On the other hand, I move up to #4 on the US seniority list.

Sounds like a good time to the the Honcho there that you're seriously considering retiring and see the reaction....even if you're not.

My boss is afraid that one day I am just going to walk. I’m going to try and hold out to the end of 2021.

I already threatened to retire at 62 back when I was 59. Really couldn’t afford to do it but it was worth it to see their faces.

What does it mean when the person you couldn’t stand was laid off at the start of the reorganization is now the person you really miss? This person was pushy, abrasive, and crabby for the first 7.5 hours of the day. But, dammit, she knew how to do her job. We had had three CS people in Elgin. There are seven in Beaufort that can’t do half of what our old crew did.

In other news, Friday is Marlenes’ final day. She is finally officially retiring after thirty years. I called her yesterday to wish her well and asked her who she was going to fight with now, as that was what we did in Elgin. She said me because she’s moving back to Illannoy. She also told me we didn’t fight, we argued. Since day one at Beaufort she’s been fighting and she’s just done. She also can’t wait to have four real seasons again.

I’m going down in two weeks to supervise a project. First trip since October.

Oh, Good Lord.

The morons have instituted their second social media platform. The first one, which was just Beaufort, crashed and burned after a month because there was just no interest. This new one is corporate wide and it sounds like participation may be mandatory. I haven’t even set up my account, and have no intention of doing so, yet I have a half dozen “followers”. None which I know.

Thirty more months.

I would anticipate you having a bunch of followers since you're one of the only ones who have any knowledge.
