Speedometer Calibration

The consensus seems to be that the speedometer is off by 4 to 5 mph, is there no way to calibrate them?

Yes, You would need a speedometer calibrator such as the SpeedoDRD U1. I've used them on several bikes and works perfect. I do plan on getting one for the KPX. I haven't looked at what connector the KPX uses but might be able to use one for one of the Name brand bikes.

If you search on Ebay, sometimes you can pick them up for $45-55 for odd ball bikes like I did. Just cut off the connectors and wire it like the U1 which is a universal kit. All the same unit. Example. https://cdn1.mecum.com/auctions/lv01...?1510711723000

What kind of real world mileage are KPX 250 riders seeing?

I only checked mine on the first tank and if i remember right it was 74mpg. Some of the other owners have reported 76-81 mpg.

New kpx250!

Hey guys! Just wanted to jump on and say hello! This is my first bike and first time riding. My kpx 250 was delivered September 13th and I have about 200mi on it, all of witch have been amazing. I want to ask jerryhawk or anyone else who has used the jfg razing hand guards. I cannot for the life of me get the bar end weights out to install them. How did you do it? My large flathead is not doing the job without it starting to strip.

I had to use my impact driver.

Thanks jerry! I have a compressor and impact wrench. How did you go about setting it up with a flathead tip to fit the bar end weight bolts?

invest in one of these.. it'll save you a lot of stripped screws along the way: https://www.harborfreight.com/6-bit-...YaAmUMEALw_wcB

Thanks guys! I’ll go by harbor freight and pick up a set. If my biggest issue is getting the bar weights out I guess I’m doing pretty good

Getting the barend weights was the hardest part of the install. They had blue loctite on them.

Careful use of a heat gun or a really good hair dryer on high will soften that blue loctite and make it easier to remove the bar ends. Most blue loctite releases at 230 to 250 degrees, unless it is 243, which is 350.
