So you cut it, drilled a new hole and then rounded the end? I want to make sure I'm looking at the right thing....

No, I cut 3/32 out of the middle of the arm, and welded it back together....

Interesting mod, Huck! So does it tighten the friction zone in the clutch lever? As in ... you don't need to pull the lever as much to engage the clutch?

New Front Disk
I decided to do a new front disk, since I feel it may be the weak link in the system for those of us who have the odd front braking issues, like pulsation when hot. I'm sure a floating disk would solve all of the problems...but one's not available.
I read the tutorial for the big front brake for tips and I'm glad I did. 1- As Gerry suggests, flat sand the mounting surface. I found that there were varying thicknesses of paint as I removed it. He thinks this may be causing the pulsation. Time will tell once the Dr clears me to ride again. In the meantime, I'm benched :-(...but I can still wrench! :-) 2- I cleaned the heck out of the new disk with some Awesome and a rag prior to install and it was amazingly clean!....especially compared to the TT250 disks. 3- The mounting bolts are BUTTER SOFT! Even after a heat gun to loosen the Locktite, I rounded two allen holes with my very sharp allen socket, leaning my 230 pounds straight down on them with my air gun. I had to take the grinder to them, get the disk off, then grab the shanks with vise grips. 4- Run a tap down the holes in the rim to clean out the old locktite and whatever else may be in there. Clean them with some brake clean and air. It's an 8mm x 1.25. 5- Upon reassembly, use blue locktite and spin them down till they're all flush and sunk into their homes. Cross torque to 25 NM according to the tutorial (about 20 ft lbs). Any more than this and those buttery bolt heads will want to strip anyway. It must be a built-in "do not overtorque" safety feature! ;-) Now I can't wait to ride the dang thing...........

Apologies if I sounded confusing. I ordered a new RX3 disk from Ryan that I installed above. I brought up the TT250 disks because on Mrs. 2LZ TT250, they were filthy out of the crate. This RX3 disk came spotlessly clean.

Off the subject of brakes, I had a pin come off my side case while I was on my trip. The great folks at CSC sent me replacement. Now to figure out how to put it on. |

Glue shouldn't be necessary as it's a friction fit. It's likely that any glue applied would be wiped off as the pin is hammered in.
