You can't make this stuff up.
Aqua-bike exercise bike in my local craigslist. You drop it in your pool or spa and the cups on the chain ring provide the resistance. https://houston.craigslist.org/bik/d...541948365.html Aqua-bike - $500 (Willis, Tx) Aqua-bike. Great for exercising in your pool or spa, especially if you don't have time or a place to ride a regular bike!! Has blue cups that fill with water and go around (see pictures) when you pedal. Adjustable bike handles to raise or lower bike

"I think I’d rather just go for a swim."
Do both a swim and an aqua-bike workout. Then you can enjoy both swimming and cycling cramps at the same time, like a triathlete.

biketools.jpgHad to replace a rear spoke.
-First problem: The spoke is on the cog side -Second problem: I cannot find my bicycle tools. My wife had straightened up the garage one weekend while I was away. -Finally found the tool kit after 4 weekends of looking (I'm only home on weekends). I forgot how to remove the cogset and had to look it up on youtube. -Its a two handed job to remove the cogs with the chain whip and freewheel socket. It makes an awfull sound before it breaks loose. -I was able to remove the cogs without breaking any fingers or additional spokes. -Screwed in the new spoke and replaced that old banana peel tire with a new one. -I'll wait until tomorrow after work before I true it up a bit.

I see you are using your 'Field Work Bench'.

rollocrankdisc.jpg Crank mounted disc brakes on fixie bikes look pretty good. -Fixie bikes will not free-wheel. If the back wheel is rolling, the pedals are moving. Stopping the pedals and crank with a disc brake will stop the rear wheel (unless the chain breaks or comes off).

As a fixed gear rider, . Braking done with the legs is fairly efficient, and if you are smart, you at least ride with a front brake. The mechanics of it are impressive, but also seems like a solution looking for a problem. My $0.02.
The group I rode with called those who rode brakeless in traffic 'statistics'.

You'll be Flintstoning it, same as with a coaster brake rig. Some of the guys I rode with on the velodrome, those are brakeless fixed gear bikes, would sit up straight and put a foot on the front tire tread to slow down until they could bail. Never mastered that one.

I got out for a ride today. First real ride since my foot surgery in 2016. No distance, maybe three miles on a fat tire single speed coaster brake bike. I didn’t make it up the first hill to my place, but did get up the second one. The muscle memory is still there, even if the muscle isn’t. Going to have to really work on it the next three weeks so I don’t get embarrassed by my sister.

all this talk of fixies and SS is making me sick... thursday night put the final touches on this years rendition of the mtb... fresh tires, chain, hydro disc brakes (upgraded from avid bb5 cable discs) and a fork oil swap to 15w...oh yeah... cleaned the grips with brake cleaner too...LOL amazing how dirty the grips get in 1 year...
