It looks like I will be in Beaufort next week, so I’ve held off on ruining Harolds’ vacation. We usually meet for breakfast everyday anyway when we are both there. I’ll be able to get a better handle on what’s going on in that snake pit, too. I am still going to try to hold on until the end of the year, but if a better offer comes along, I’m gone.
Finished the last project in San Juan this morning. Several small issues that caused one large issue. The fact that it’s a twenty year old machine with little replacement part availability doesn’t help. I get to go home two days early. Yay! Puerto Rico is almost paradise but it isn’t home.

Oh, I had some and plenty of Medella beer every night. Except last night. I walked nine miles from Condado to El Morro and back. Then I went right to bed.

I beleive you can bring back 3 bottles of rum without having to bother with customs. and they put them in those nice cardboard carry cases too!
....at least unless they changed since I worked there. :o |

‘tis. About the only thing frowned upon is bringing out fruits and veggies. All bags need to go through a USDA scanner.
I had a pretty good set to with my bank one year while I was there and couldn’t use an ATM. The Einstein that I was dealing with at my bank told me I wasn’t in the US and without prior notification that I was leaving the country, my card would not work. I asked, if it was true that I was out of the country, why was there a US Post Office across the street from where I was calling from? Then asked for her manager and got it straightened out. I do notify the bank whenever I’m going to be crossing the border or leaving the mainland now, though.

Let’s see, where to start.
Old Weird Harold gets back from a business trip and finds that all thirty years worth of private(so he thought) computer files are now on the company shared drive. Even the ones where I called him a fuckwit. He went ballistic. Also, all employee personal information; SSI, salary, etc, ended up on the same company shared drive. Everyone at Beaufort now has access to this. A little sleuthing by some of my guys found out that the trucking company the Fat One hired is a real fly by night outfit. We checked out the company’s website and every photo of a truck hauling something is a photo of another outfits truck with this guys company logo photoshopped on the vehicles. The owner has past felony convictions and is currently living in Thailand. Turns out the guy owns zero trucks and is a broker. My guys gave this info to the Controller, only because he stopped by to BS with us. His eyes about popped out of his head, because he cut the check. From there, he took my guys with him, and it went to the CEO, to the COO, and finally to the Fat Ones’ office. This was where my guys were cut loose. They both came back to Jason and I, looking somewhat pale, and asked if we could go to lunch. Now. Through the grapevine, the Fat One told the Spanish Inquisition that he was indeed speaking with a trucking company and they will be here Friday. He was finally told that if the machine is not gone by 5pm Friday he is not to come in on Monday. I fully expect to see an F350 with a triple axle trailer to show up to haul 12’x10’x45’ machine weighing 40 tons. More storm news. I learned that Alex, the International CEO, and Richard, the company’s Chief Legal Counsel, will be at Beaufort the week of Oct. 22nd. My past experience, when it’s just those two, it means heads will be rolling. I’m on vacation that week and hope I don’t get called down. Or maybe I do.
