Still contemplating if i want to buy the DF250RTG or the TU250X.
The X22R/DF250RTS is able to hit 70 to 75 mph easily and has the same exact engine as DF250RTR, DF250RTG and DF250RTD. I am hoping the little DF250RTG Can touch 75 mph which im sure it will. I just want to be able to keep up with the traffic after i get ML, i know at time i will have no choice but to take the highway at times but im going to try not to. Highways are rather boring and dangerous, back roads are more fun especially in the mountains. I dont care for speed, yea it may be fun and all but do ya wanna die faster?? No i dont.... Little bikes are as fun as any motorcycle, i wish everyone would understand that but unfortunately people in my age thinks that a 250 is boring after a while. NOT TRUE! what they need to worry about is keeping up with traffic really or just stay off the highway. I dont see the point why need a bigger bike to go 100+++, unless you got money for track days but dude... that is alot of $$$. Its pointless buy a 600 or 1000cc, you will rarely hit above 120 or go that fast! pointless... Im like getting shit on by family and friends for buying a 250, they think its going to be boring and to slow. not true!
Good side is im about 130 to 140 Lbs and im a skinny dude so I could get the bike to touch 70 to 75, and ill still be happy if it can only do 60 to 62 top. I would have to stay away from highways all times. I definitely know TU250 can reach 80 to 90 mph no problem. But they are hard to get and hard to find used... very hard..

Its just, idk if i can trust reliability and highway capability for the little DF. I dont need to go fast, i just wanna ride feeling comfortable being with traffic.

I agree these little 250's are fun. It has the same engine as my X22R 250. Little things like removing the cat, tuning and rear sprocket change will gain a good bit of speed for highway. My bike in stock with just gutting the cat and tuning did just over 70 mph but was screaming at those speeds. Picking the right sprocket to put it where it makes its HP for the speeds you intend on running is the key. The question would be how well the DF250RTG handles the higher speeds. I'm sure Barnone can give info on that. Kind of like my Hawk. It's capable of 75+ mph but doesn't feel safe at those speeds. I've hit 81 mph on the X22R and it handles those speeds well. Also the X22R is more aerodynamic than the Hawk or the DF250RTG. On the X22R just tucking down to the tank without giving any more throttle will gain 3-4 mph. I always like the DF250RTG and looked hard at getting one.

If you want to cruise at 70 MPH get the TU or bigger.

It’s not that speed is really my worry, I can handle being stuck at 60mph. It’s the BIKE I’m worried about, the reliability. Yes, I am currently looking for on other rear sprocket for the DF250RTG, it really has me glued and man she looks nice. I really want the DF250RTG, 70mph is enough for me. No more speed needed, I’m going to be Avoiding all highways as possible anyways. I live in the mountains here in GA, even when I get my ML I won’t be taking the highways unless I really have no choice. Also what makes more iffy about the DF250RTG is that if Georgia will allow me to insure it sense it’s not C.A.R.B. approved. I was going for the Suzuki VanVan 200, the VanVan goes about the same speed as the DF250RTG let alone probably similar power output for BHP. So I really don’t care if she can’t handle highways. That’s not an issue, but I really don’t know till I buy it then I can say otherwise. I feel like the DF250RTG will be an amazing bike.
There are 3 I am currently looking at.
DF250RTG, Suzuki VanVan 200, Suzuki TU250X
Plus the DF250RTG is lighter than the X22r so it may potentially touch 75. A friend of mine owns a VanVan 200 and well.... riding it I did like the bike.... a lot
My friend says it can do 70 to 75 max. I was looking at the VanVan for a while so speed is no big deal anyways unless I’m taking highways. Knowing your X22R Jerry goes up to 81 makes me feel more confident to buy the DF250RTG, knowing it weighs less than X22R it may go at those speeds.

I may still buy the DF250RTG, you will never know till the end of this month. Or sooner. I am definitely changing the seat on the DF250RTG if I get it. The seat Barnone has, makes it look great! Plus I’m looking for a speedo with a mileage trip for fuel. The Df250rtg doesn’t have one, I would have to guess on fuel an check frequently.

I have never really worked on bikes much, removing the cat may be a challenge. I might just leave it alone sense it does only very little to performance. Now the carb I may upgrade. I know carbs are a big part in performance. I will be looking for some good rear sprockets for the DF250RTG.

If you don’t mind Jerry, can you send me the links to the mods you installed on your X22r?
DF250RTG is the same exact engine, so it should be fine

Damn, bad news I was going to buy the TU250x yesterday but a guy named Zach... well he turned me down and says he isn’t selling it anymore after showing up to his house.... Ehh that’s okay.... I’ll probably have the DF by the end of this month. I feel a little more relaxed about it now checking forums about X22r and Df250rtr. They seem pretty reliable, I also checked out about the DF bobber lol. That thing sounds cool and looks cool, funny thing is someone I actually know has a 2012 model and has about 23k on the speedo in miles. I would have never thought one of my friends has the DF250RTB. I never see them ride it, like ever.

If I get the DF, I’ll replace the carb and have it rejetted. I’ll also put an oil cooler on it. First I’ll ride it stock for a while and see how I feel about the modifications.
