That would be nice to have... Mine works good enough though, if it ever fails I'll look to see if this offer is still up there....

It really is nice to have, you can put whatever you want in there.

Do you have a second bike for the new one?

I wish I could order the mounting plate along, it looks like it would work on mine... Oh well we'll see how the plastic one holds out, and if it fails I'll build something.

Yes, these trunks are great for shopping, traveling around town, or heading out into the wilderness. The quick detach feature is very handy. If I am traveling along and discover a difficult trail I want to explore, I just detach the trunk and hide it in the bushes. After I return I lock the trunk back onto the luggage rack and go on my way.

I don't have a second bike at the moment, but I am always looking for a good deal. Also, I like this trunk so much I wanted to have a spare one handy, just in case. You certainly can't beat this price.

Here is a closer view of the new mounting plate. Every component of the new plate is metal, except for the four small rubber shock bumpers. The mounting plate alone is almost worth the sale price. Come on Jim, pull the trigger! You know you want one!

I'll have to get a picture of my mounting plate next time I'm there... (the bike is not here).

It looks like it may be the same, I don't know if my trunk is the same as a jc whitney trunk, I think it is the med size anyways.

I prefer the large trunk.

Yes, it appears you have the medium size trunk. The special price I mentioned in my first post applies only to the large J C Whitney travel trunk.

I prefer the large size trunk. I am frequently amazed at how many groceries I can fit into this large trunk! I also enjoy locking my helmet, gloves, digital camera, et cetera, inside the trunk when I stop to dine or shop. Even with the helmet placed inside, I still have lots of room for groceries and any other items I happen to pick up while traveling about.

At first I was concerned that the large travel trunk would be too big for my 200cc motorcycle. However, I think this travel trunk looks very good mounted on the back of my bike.

Yeah, it looks good. Mine doesn't quite fit my XL zox helmet... but the benefit of fitting less groceries in the trunk, is more riding time since I get to make an extra trip

Jim, I certainly would like to see a photo of your mounting plate; please do post a photo when you have the opportunity. Your trunk lacks a back rest, and it has a different style of reflector. Other than those minor differences, your trunk looks very similiar to the J C Whitney medium travel trunk.

I think the Kolpin Gear Lock & Load System is another viable alternative for mounting travel trunks, et cetera.

http://www.kolpinpowersports.com/pro...-system_2.html

Using this system you could swap out your travel trunk for a jerry can of fuel, or some other accessory!

Well I went back there, and had the camera phone, but wouldn't you know it, I forgot the keys for the darn thing

Maybe tomorrow I will remember everything...

Sorry about the crappy pictures, my cell phone camera isn't great, and the lighting was poor...

Well, the latch and slots look very similar to those on my J.C. Whitney trunk. Do you recall the name of the manufacturer?

The $47.99, with free shipping, price no longer works. :( However, these travel trunks are once again on sale.

J. C. Whitney is selling the the large trunk for $59.98 ($55.99, plus $3.99 large item surcharge). J.C. Whitney is selling the medium trunk for $41.99.

Sears is selling this large travel trunk for $42.49, plus $9.34 shipping, for a total cost of $51.83. Sears is also selling the medium trunk for $32.49, plus $9.34 shipping, for a total cost of $41.83. The Sears prices are very good deals on two very nice travel trunks.

I just ordered the JC Whitney large one the other day. Lol, wish I had known about the Sears one then, it's a bit cheaper . Both excellent deals though, I can't wait to get it!

Yes Spud, the base plate on yours is much superior than mine. Mine is all plastic; it must be the older version. I think I'll order the newer version.

I got the trunk and put it on the Konker... Works great! I posted a couple of pics in the Pictures/Videos section, I think it looks good on there. I got a free shipping coupon for orders over $25 so was going to order another one for the KLR but the sale is over... Bummer!

The J.C. Whitney travel trunk looks great on your Konker, Stew! I notice your Konker also sports the travel trunk in your new avatar. Thanks for reporting your feedback; I am sure you will enjoy your new travel trunk!
