My weight breakdown had nothing to do with synth vs conventional.
Up to rider on what he wants to use, justify.
5w50...
That is a large viscosity spread, 5 weight "winter" pouring ability and 50 weight high temperature kinematic viscosity. An oil would need to rely on very good Viscosity Improvers in order to do both well.

Why spend the money on something you are going to change. And do you need 5 weight in southern states?

Clutches slip worse with synth unless it is specifically designed as such.
Don't buy cheap "oil" synth under $10 a quart would be sub standard.
My $4 dino fluid works good.

Personally, I wouldn't. I don't really like mixing brands of oil, let alone types. Although, If you just hang onto it until later, it won't go to waste, it just won't get used right now... I'd still break it on dino oil, myself.

Unless, we're talkin' about 2 strokes. Then, I figure the cheapest crap I can get that day. I figure it's got to be better than what the bikes were designed to run on...

But it's gotta be blue. Not blue? Not interested. Not green, not brown, not yellow. Blue. Not even purple with green polka dots.

Don't ever want to try to run out an entire tank of premix through a 4 stroke Honda Cb- 4 satroke, ever again!

I have found 15/40 car engine oil with a performance engine treatment that contains PTFE has really smoothed out my motor I tried synthetic oil and it was awful, the the noise and vibration were noticeably increased, similarly 10/40 motorbike oil had more noise and vibration.

Actually they are in development of obtaining raw fuel oil from single cell phytoplankton on ``farms`` . 7 to 30 times as eficient per acre than competing foodstuff, use subpar land as long as it is sunny and warm, temperate, simple technology......

single cells are older than dinosaurs....unless you don`t think Darwin was right

Careful on the additives as that is what will damage the clutch.

Friction modifiers.

Your motor may run awesome but if the clutch slips...what good is a running motor!

The oil was castrol mineral oil 15/40 and PTFE is the ingredient that is in the additive. my additive was Nulon E20 this was an australian brand but any additive with the ingredient PTFE would be the same. This would usually be a performance engine treatment (eg it is the main ingredient of motor up but here are much less expensive options with ptfe in them) I have had it in there for 800kms now with no clutch problems. if you look up qminet.com it had additives with ptfe that it recommends for motorcycles. Ceramicpowerliquid.com also directly asks this question - can I use this in an oil bath clutch? and they answer that it does no harm to the clutch. Hope that helps

bump
I went from 10/40 to 20/50 same brand oil. Canadian tire motorcycle oil for 4 strokes. Both are $3.99/L. My gear shift is no longer sticking/ \
