To take some of the strain off the bags and seams, I made a belt from the rack on one side, underneath the bag, over the seat, around and underneath the other bag up to the rack. Hope this keeps the bags from flopping and the seams from tearing.

Here's the hook on the frame. Yes, it's parts from an old baby car seat.

Now I just need to go camping somewhere to try it out!

First, here's a picture of the cupboards. It was a MAJOR learning experience for me, but turned out fair.

Ok, is picture uploading working today? Let me check.
I have those same tiles in my kitchen

I see these pictures don't work any more or never did. Let me try again. (OK, must be my browser. They show up fine now. Pardon the repeat)

The saddlebags worked ok. They do best with a full load like in the pictures. I just had a few books on each side today, and had to stop once to tighten the straps. The left side got to swinging under and touching the tire. I heard it buzz and knew right away what it was.
The cheap buckles don't grip the strap well enough to not slip a little. No damage today, but I could imagine that it could be disastrous. I may extend the rack on that side a little lower to help support/keep this from happening.
