Akront was a brand of competition alloy rims that were put on old European dirt bikes. They were far lighter than the steel rims Japanese bikes were running at the time. The "yellow" rims were the newest, lightest but also, the softest because they didn't have a shoulder like the "red" rims. Any big rock would bend them if you were running low pressure. The reds were stronger but would pack with mud and become really heavy on a muddy track.

Did you identify or consider purchasing new rims?

Curiously asking as a TBR owner which direction you went in given I myself may need to travel the same road some day.

Rim may be usable enough for now , but am looking into a used aluminum rim (just the outer rim ) at the moment. As hard and fast as i hit those washouts in the road the rims on the TBR's are plenty stout and this is just my opinion but i wonder if a hawk 21 inch would have survived such a hard hit ? Like onelegged rider pointed out my tire pressure was too low for the riding and terrain and may have survived with less damage if the pressure was 25psi or higher ?

If i do get another rim or rims i will most definitely post a new link as to what i found plus cost etc.

Time to upgrade

Fixin' the wheel dent with my 6" C-Clamp. There are so many dents on the front wheel. It is shacking the frontend at speed with a side to side wobble.

Anyone know a good Dual Sport that comes with Aluminum rims? Or an Apollo DB36 with larger gas tank...
