Allen, I'd definitely buy the replacement carb, especially if you identify it as a common model that you can buy replacment jets for.
You could fabricate a muffler like I did for the XL250S; it's really easy, and your Hobart will likely have no trouble with it.

That makes sense on the water freezing. I believe it was in the barn for about 20 years unused.
New carb and points have been purchased. I don't really want to spend hours on getting it right when a new one cost me $28 shipped. ![]() China copy of the original pz20. Hoping my buddy may have a set of decent used tires. Trying to keep it cheap. Billy is extremely frugal. Tires and tubes and it should be ready. I think I can save the chain. The sprockets look good. All the cables work. Kill switch seems okay. Brakes need some lube and adjusting. He doesn't want to spend for a rear fender. If I can find one I will put it on. Might have something in my pile that can be made to fit. |

He likes his cars, but makes wise investments. This little bike should be a good investment too. It is still pretty nice and a classic.

Wise decision. That will make the job much easier and likely provide a better long term outcome as well. Plus its shiny. I like shiny.

Shiny new parts that I don't have to troubleshoot. Now just need those points.

I hope it fires right up for you. Tiny displacement engines tend to be more sensitive to jetting, but I'm guessing that this one will be close.

It will probably be close. I need to check the status of the air filter. The muffler is somewhat rotten.
I don't really need to correct for elevation. We are only 1000ft up here. |
