Have you examined all the hoses and connections for leaks?

The coolant overflow bottle has MIN and MAX markings on both the front, and the engine side of the bottle. The MIN marking is near the bottom, and indicates the proper level of coolant when the engine is cold. The MAX marking is near the top, and indicates the proper level of coolant when the engine is hot.

Sure, not visible leaks nor smell of coolant.
After refilling I let it idle until fans started and nothing visible came out. I´m planning a 300 km ride tomorrow so let´s see what happens

My Overflow bottle is below the low mark which would now make the 3rd time
I have topped it and the radiator off. I'm thinking something else besides filling the void from the factory is in play now. I have no visible leaks and have 2,500 miles. |

I had to refill mine three times, but it's stable now

OK,could be just a big void.I will now see what happens.
Could this be what was thinning my oil out ? And causing my excess contaminant level ? The possibilities are remote but possible I guess. |

I had to refill my overflow bottle more than three times before the coolant level stabilized. My RX3 had a large air void in the left radiator.

Coolant can only enter the crankcase if the seal on the water pump fails. Beneath the water pump, there is a small hole, less than 1mm in diameter. If the seal on the water pump has failed, you will see coolant leaking from that small hole. If the inspection hole is not leaking coolant, your water seal is good, and coolant is not entering the crankcase. As with myself, I strongly suspect you have a large air void in the left radiator.

Mine also did this in the first 500 miles.
I picked up a funnel with a long narrow flexy hose for about 4 dollars and fed it from the top down into the overflow bottle. Worked perfect and super easy to refill. |

They have the funnels with the flexy hoses and a built in filter screen at Dollar Tree for $1.00 if you have Dollar Tree in your town.

Thanks for the good tip. I will have to look for them the next time I am in the Dollar Tree. I don't see them on the website.

I also checked the website and didn't see them but I have personally bought the funnel with the flex hose at my local Dollar Tree. They are black in color and were located in their little tool/automotive section.

Theoretically, coolant could also enter the crankcase if the head gasket failed. Just a theory. No one has reported head gasket issues on an RX3, so that's a long shot.

Of course, you are correct. Coolant can certainly enter the crankcase if the head gasket fails. I don't hear of that happening very often with motorcycles, and I think it usually happens immediately after an engine rebuild, when the gasket is defective upon installation.
