Cal25,

$1 stores around here are more miss than hit.

---

I would go without a garage if I have other places to store things. A car port will be my best choice. That way, I won't be the target of lawn blowers, instead enjoy their power to keep a clean working space with ease.

Oh, I also don't have to worry about gas fumes. Around here, people get in/out of their houses through the garage far more than the front door.

Doc,

LOL, you got me. The congestion and road packed with tourists and people who are foreign to drive here will harden any rider's gut. Ride too long and the congestion will be transferred to your gut. Hey, I had to say something to feel a little better.

That's a little far, Santa Barbra is a good mid point if you do get here.

Looking at Paso Robles. I was offered a job there 3 years ago and turnied it down due to marital issues.

Doc,

Sorry to hear about that.

I don't think the "congestion," I was talking about applies to Paso Robles. I hear it's a purdy wine country. From there, you'll probably be same distance away from PCH as me, except I'm hundreds of miles south.

I live east of Downtown LA. Yeap, near the infamous East L-A.

Doc,

You're going to ride...wait, you fly. That's right, you fly.

What I had in mind was if you do move here and rides along PCH, which I'm sure you will, we can meet up somewhere mid point sometime. Holidays are crazy for me.

I have no idea what I'll do, just looking at my options.

In the 12 years I lived in Kalifornia I bet I logged 3,000 miles on the PCH.

What the heck were you guys doing electing Moonbeam?

Arnold didn't deliver. Boxer still clings on to our ____ with her nails. Ah, we're pretty screwed either way.

Doc.....I don't even want to talk about it, it makes me so upset.... :x Let's just say, "Red Fish in a Blue Pond".

I can tell you this....there are a lot of voters here who didn't live through his first time around to remember how badly he screwed things up. He screwed Sacramento, in particular, after the state displaced all those families out of their homes to build the Cross-Town Freeway....and after the construction started....he cancelled it as an unnecessary budget expenditure, then raised taxes. Memories are short.....
As beautiful as you may find it....the political winds have turned horribly Socialist because the economy sucks here worse than almost anywhere (due to policy)...and those who don't contribute and just take, vote.
We also have no problem putting people out of business to save a frog.

On the upside....Paso Robles is BEAUTIFUL and also, the riding here rocks.
All things concidered, I ain't leaving. I'm at an age now where, "For the first 50, I tried to change the world. For the last 20 or so, I'm partying."

WOW! Is this a typical case of CR Thread Wander?

I think we should start a garage thread, now that much of the place is done riding for a while.

I think this thread is more appropriate for the Miscellaneous Forum, so I'm moving it over there.

Back to the garage topic, Son of Weldangrind and I were talking about something new tonight.

We have enough junk laying around to make an old school style bobber, and we can make it small and light. We're considering powering it with a 50cc horizontal Hondoid engine that will be obnoxiously loud. The point is to satisfy all of the criteria of a 50cc scooter without looking like one. Son of Weldangrind will be old enough to get his learner's permit in a few months, but he won't be able to insure his Ranger for full time use. A bobber would at least allow him to get home from football practice on his own, and he could get to a weekend job as well.

This is the concept that we have in mind, but we don't like ape hangers. Our version would probably have drag bars. http://www.kikker5150.com/hardknock.html

We'd need to find a 50cc engine that is fully automatic with no gears or clutch. Anybody have one laying around?

I have that 49cc gio pocket bike, not sure on the specs of it... It's a 2 stroke, pull starter.

Was BrianW selling the one out of the madass?

That sounds like a good project, what are your plans for registration?

I may have an engine for you. Let me see what I can work out.

It is e-start only from one of the little atvs. I traded it to a friend for a tractor, but I may be able to get it back.

Jim, yeah, we're looking for a four stroke, much like the engine in your CT. We'd scratch-build the whole thing and then go for a U-Bilt inspection. If we do it right, we should be able to sell it for a decent dollar when we're done with it; it will be unique.

Kato, that's exactly what we're looking for, but please don't go to any trouble. I might be able to find a junked quad for cheap around here, I hadn't thought of that.

Have you guys ever seen a 50cc horizontal Honda clone in a kid's dirt bike with e-start and kick? I haven't, and I wonder if it's because a kicker might try to move the bike. Not sure.

It would be great to have both starting options, but electric only is just fine. We'd need a battery anyway, so it might as well be put to good use.
