Hawk has the braided line not sure if it is stainless or not. The back breaks are great front not so much.

I might be wrong, but I think some of the Hawk bikes have arrived with a bad connection between the air box and the carburetor. The rubber hose which connects the carb to the air box doesn't enter the air box properly, so the manufacturer has slathered the end of the hose with sealant to hold it in place. If I'm wrong, I hope the Hawk owners will correct my faulty memory. Perhaps this defect has occurred on a different motorcycle than the Hawk.

Thank you for verifying the problem, Mark.
I'm confident the sealant will hold out for you trip to South America. However, if I wanted a motorcycle to remain in my stable for years, I would not buy a bike with this defect. If this is a common problem for the Hawk motorcycles, I would definitely spend the extra money to get a CSC TT250, which is manufactured by Zongshen. I would be very surprised if this air box defect could pass the quality control at the Zongshen factory, and I would be even more surprised if CSC is willing to sell any TT250 bikes with this defect.

Here are the best images I can find showing the connection between the air box, and the hose leading to the carburetor on the CSC TT250.
https://www.cscmotorcycles.com/Articles.asp?ID=301 http://www.cscmotorcycles.com/Articles.asp?ID=284 As you can see, the hose fits properly in the air box, forming a secure, durable, air tight seal. On a side note, these Chinese 'hoses' seem to be manufactured from plastic, instead of rubber. After these 'hoses' age, they become very stiff, and it becomes very difficult to remove/install the carburetor. One of the nicest upgrades I did to my Zongshen ZS200GY-2 was to install a genuine rubber hose manufactured for the Yamaha TW200. It fits perfectly, and it greatly facilitates the removal and installation of the carburetor. I'm confident an equivalent Honda hose is also available for the Hawk/TT250. However, if the frame is located too far back from the carburetor, as with Mark's bike, the hose won't fit. This is a troublesome defect, and I am afraid it will eventually cause problems with dirt entering the cylinder, which will damage the intake valve and valve seat.

That air intake tube is clearly supposed to be seated inside the air intake box around that flange groove that is in the tube. Is there no way to move things around to make the connection? Not enough room or not enough length available? Hard to tell in the photo but looks like about 1/2 inch needed on the tube to make the groove fit the box.

I'm glad to hear the problem was fixed for your 2016 Hawk. I suggest future Hawk buyers beware, lest they get a bike with the air box defect.

The main difference between the Hawk and the Bashans, as well as the TT is the Hawk is NOT DOT certified. The EPA has a list, every year that shows 'ON-Highway' motorcycles, and the Hawk ain't on it, and has not been. The Bashan bikes are not on the 2016 list, but were on the 2015 list, meaning Bashans are 2015 models. I have not see the TT on the list (the RX3 is on it), but it is an Excel spreadsheet, so probably will be added.
There is an EPA off-road list as well, and both the Hawk and the Magician are on that list. I do think that CSC was correct to modify the price for the TT seeing as their main competition is a similar looking bike that is selling like hotcakes for $13XX, and Bashans for a little more (or less depending on model). CSC will definitely have the California market covered for Hondoids as 2LZ, who has a stake in California, has pointed out several times. As far as the Hawks go--RPS or Haosen will have to get their bikes EPA/DOT certified before they could even think of getting CARB certification. It is exciting times no matter how one looks at it! Me, I am mentally preparing and pre-planning my motorcycle trip with member 'Wolftrax' on the part of his trip to Cabo San Lucas, in celebration of all the choices--maybe a TT, or a Hawk, or a Magician, or even as someone pointed out on another thread, the Peace Motorcycle's Bashan Brozz. Exciting time indeed in the Chinese motorcycle wars!

both my hawks have zippo air box problems. and it appears to me from the photos that the same sharp bend in the air hose is at the carb end on the tt250, box end on hawk, probably a bit less intake turbulence inducing on the hawk. either way, its still a restriction/airflow disturbance.
I am curious tho Spud. did you seriously declare that ALL people considering a $1300.00 ish Hawk should unconditionably buy instead a roughly $2400 ish TT250 on the grounds of the use of a $1.25 sealant (which is apparenty used by both)? must be the campaign season your mfg fairness and impartiality seems to be in jeopardy here, I *think* unfairly to the hawk. As i've said, when I actually receive and run my production tt250, I'll be able to render an informed opinion on empirical info.
