Tuning Part2
Qlink Xf200 tuning Part2: So far I've replaced the counter shaft sprocket with the Jets R Us 520-16T, it makes a big improvement over stock just by doing this simple mod. 4th gear is big 40 to about 55 mph range without revving it out, so if you don't have a lot of money to throw at your Q right now. Just get the counter shaft sprocket it sure beats the 15T one where you feel like you're shifting gears every 5 seconds.
Second was changing the jets starting with some new NGK plugs for readings and a 125 main, the bike ran fine but the plug looked very light brown. Switched to the 127.5 and the plug is a nice light brown color, the bike idles great and is very smooth. Next item was the catalytic converter in the stock exhaust pipe, this little job will take you about 30 minutes to an hour to do and is not something that once you start that you can simply change your mind about. with a small long handle metal chisel in hand I went to work, then got tired and got the air hammer out and within seconds the converter was no more. Smoothed out the remaining scrap and then put it back together, the bike is loud and to me sounds great or what I would say "like a supermoto should sound like." Re-installed the E3 plug and grabbed the GPS for some testing, remember I live in Florida elevation and temperature conditions are factors in my results and what works best for my bike. After several test runs and plug checks all was good for a final test and I have an average of 72-75mph top speed in windy conditions, speedo and GPS differ by 3 mph

Thank you for the report. Your inexpensive mods have done your Q a lot of good, and based on your top speed dyno, your little bike is a runner.

What is the engine code for the QLink?
Also based on my research, a LT230 or LT250S cam would be compatible and more agressive than the stage 1 DRZ125 cam, could also be found cheaper. http://www.megacyclecams.com/ has the specs for all of the above. An wesico overbore LT230 cam could also be used to up the compression to 10.25:1 . If I could get a QLink engine for a decent price I'd test the combo for ya

Thats Good NEWS Trev - Hope that headlight stayed on good for ya at those Speeds! Sounds like you got everything tuned to meet your needs - Congrats. Based upon the "Q's" History I'm sure the bike will treat you right. Keep us posted on any updates. I decided to get some miles on mine before I Change the Main Jett again and the exhuast. I so looking forward to it though. Congrats and thanks for Sharing your report!

I have installed a Hotcams Drz 125 stage 1 cam in my Q and for now it's a mild cam running the stock double valve springs (sorry no picture's of this mod) it is allowing me to acellerate and pass Xt225's and Crf230l-m's on the track. I have played with the idea of swapping the cam for a more agressive lift but I'll see how this one last throughout the year. I have been busy getting the bike ready for racing season (supermoto sportsman and street class) with safety wiring all items and catch cans for the fluids
the Xf as it was about a month ago and now after almost $500 in parts from Q currently waiting for my new bar mounts for the Protapers

So, you're confirming that the Q valvetrain is the same as a DRZ125? If so, that's good news for Q owners.

The camshaft is a direct bolt on item as for the rest of the valvetrain I can not say, as I did not pull the head and measure the intake and exhaust valves. I am awaiting for my new gopro camera to arrive in the mail and to hopefully get some race action videos of the Q

Any other adjustments to the carb or anything else for the cam swap? I see a stock exhaust can still on there...
Glad to hear you are seeing a benefit. The racing sounds fun, I wish there were something local for me...

That's awesome Trevort! Your bike looks GREAT! ....and I'm glad to hear you actually DO feel an improvement with the cam. I think that seals the deal with me then.
So what you're saying is it's worth the 100+ bucks?....because I could use just a tad more gusto, even with my current setup. :wink:

I've done all of the same mods to my Q as most owners on here have:
JetsRUs 125/35 jets and clip moved to the 4th on the needle, 127.5 is still too rich. 16/44 gearing, Dr200 Moose airfilter, Hotcams DRZ125 camshaft, stock exhaust with the cat removed and end plate mod. Still researching full exhaust systems for the bike and performance CDI ignitions. 2LZ the cam is the next step in the limited performance options for our bikes, a more aggessive lift cam would be more bang for the buck but usually affects ignition timing but the Hotcam is a good choice for dependability. You could always adapt a Dr200 carburetor and monifold to your bike and then spend countless hours jetting it to work. Btw check Ebay I got the cam for $89.50 new with free shipping
