The A. Lifan Forum really wasn't shut down, but it was...
The Forum didn't belong to A. Lifan as I understand. It belonged to Shawn. He built it, he has copyrights on it {per his business web site} and all he has to do is change the name & logos if he wants to put it back up. Just as the A. Lifan web site went down the same day for some of the same reasons. Shawn was very careful how he produced the new A. Lifan sites, as A. Lifan only owned www.americanlifan.com . His links after the link I just wrote belonged to him and Lifan only owned the Original Site. Since he was not paid for web writing/hosting from what I understand all of his newer links belonged to him, so A. Lifan had to let them go. American Lifan has a new website @ www.americanlifan.com but there is No Forum. Will there be a new Forum? I have no clue. The original site had to have been at least now... 8-10 years old. I kind of remember what the site looked like back in 2004 when I set up with A. Lifan as a dealer. As far as Vehicles, Parts or anything else goes currently I'm not completely sure what is going on. The new site as I'm told isn't finished and I have no sure way to order parts. WA, I'll call you as soon as I can.

also I've done a little bit of site hosting and building in the past. I had a site of similar complexity of ALs current one and used an external forum for discussion ect.
I'm not sure what your tech department is like at American Lifan but it would not be hard to make a forum hosted on one of the many free or very low cost 3rd party forum hosting sites (which usually have spam filters ect.) , then put a redirecting link from the old forums address to the third party forum (so the old address in everyone's address books will work). yes it is a little tacky to not have the forum integrated with the site but from the amount of problems AL has been having it might be best to leave at least some of the technical stuff to someone else.

I understand all of that... the Forum was a phpbb forum series 2.02.0. Yes there is an up-dated forum & you can add all you want for Spammers on just about any forum. {I don't understand that part} but you know what I mean...
Send me a PM with your cell... I'll explain more asap.

Hello everyone,
I checked in on the Lifan almost daily and posted when appropriate. I really enjoyed the site because of the way it was displayed and functioned. I will miss it but, quite frankly, I think I'm just as happy here. countrycruiser |

That seems odd to me. Are Lifans legal in California?

I don't think so, but alot of the china bike companies are headquartered there. Just don't sell to residents of that state.

Wow this is news.....
Cal25, Kato is correct. There are some off-road Lifan vehicles that are CARB approved on CA. CA is very strict on distributors in that state as I have heard, but that is only as I have heard.
