i used to have one but it fell in water, i will get another one. but im 80% sure its the battery. this battery has been fully dead a few times and sat for awhile fully dead.. when it was dead this last time and i took it out of the bike and put it on the charger. it only took 4hours to charge to full on a 2amp maintainer. where as when i replace the acid in it, takes anywhere from 8 to 12 hours to full charge

speaking of walmart i just had my 2nd interview today for a over night stocking manager position.. if i get the job i will be making 2 bucks more per hour then i am now, a set 40 hours a week and over time if i have to work more.

i would honestly not find having to strip it down to a bare frame to track down a electrical problem. it would give me the motivation to get the frame powder coated and do a bunch of repairs it needs. like ball joints new cables all around and try to figure out a way to a disc brake conversation for less then the 300 jet moto wants for their front disc brake conversion kit..

Good luck with the potential job upgrade. It the hours would permit, you could work both jobs for a bit and double up on paychecks. Surpriseing how much less money you spend when working!

Another benifit would be a discount for purchases at the MegaLoMart. Thats just like extra money too.

im going to pick up a new battery this weekend and see how well it works out.. if its not the battery im at a loss of what it could be.. the only other electrical thing ive messed with is the cdi. but its ran fine with the cdi since i installed it..

priced them today at autozone..

they have one for 49.99 and a duralast one for 59.99.. also going to pick up a 4 dollar battery acid bulb adder thing so i dont have to worry about pouring the acid from the plastic container to the battery with a little hose. might pick up a 6amp charger..

acid who needs it!

Today just for fun I removed the cover off my nearly dead not taking a charge battery - this is a lead acid type battery - going on a hunch that it might need some acid/water added. Once I peeled the cover off every cell was dry - I added distilled water. I figured it couldnt really be worse than being dry - guess what, it seemed to spin the engine over way better than before. I might be able to squeeze alittle more life out of this batt for now.

all cells are between the low and high marks filled with acid not distilled water

after looking at the website links on the first page of this thread, i wish i had the option of going with a gel type battery as those are badd arse.. i have a trunk mounted optima battery in my mustang and it was night and day difference after installing it. lights dont dim when the bass hits, and it cranks up so hard and fast i think the motor is going to start spining around in the engine bay..

but when i search the site with my battery number which is

12n9-4b-1

please tell me if this battery number matches that of the gio beasts

the search only turns back normal wet type batteries.. plus since they are located here in texas i have to pay taxes, plus shipping. and the price difference is like 3 bucks cheaper to order it online. i can spare the 3 bucks to be able to walk out of the store with it friday or saturday..

The sealed battery is the way to go in my opinion. Walmart usually has a couple of small batteries that might work. Verify the size of your current battery and where the cables hook up. See if it is possible to move the cables around if you have to or if a bigger battery might work. Also take note of the amp rating of the current battery.

Good luck again on the job front.

my currect bad battery does not have any info on amp rating.. assuming its around a 9amp battery since all the websites ive put the battery number into pulls up 9ah batterys.. i would love to go to a larger battery but this one is a perfect fit in the battery box. so i would have to cut the battery box out and do a custom box..

they are running a back ground check on me, dont have any convictions on my record just 2 or 3 deffered ajudication so when i completed the court stuff it should have been cleaned off my record..

went yesterday and took the drug test, i know i passed that. its been more then a few months since i have smoked the green stuff and dont plan to start again. but i bought a home test kit the night before just to be sure and it came up negative..

so the only thing i am a little worried about is the back ground check but again the app asked if i had any convictions and ive never once plead guilty or not guilty and never was told i was convicted..

I have always had trouble with my battery going dead. I tested as per W&G's advice and sure enough there was a drain of a little over 2 volts. I tested with the kill switch disengaged and its the same thing.....waynec

hmmm i saw these things at autozone for car batterys.. allows you to use spade connecters on the battery posts.. i might just think of some kind of spade connecter for the neg battery cable or some sort of quick disconnect.. but i guess the best thing to do is to pull the negative battery cable after you get done riding..

buying my new battery tomorrow.. found a guy on cl selling brand new sealed in the box batteries and when i called yesterday he had one left that was the one i needed. he is holding it for me till tomorrow and is only charging 25 bucks for a brand new battery
