OUCH, new snag

So the carb is jetted/shimmed airscrew drilled, set to 1-1/2 turns out, and ordered jets (I assume I, erhm, my son... will need a 125 main).

So onto valves. I checked the exhaust and it feels like 0.002" or so. Decided to run it through some heat cycles, and recheck. Sure feels close to perfect. Surprise

Onto intake valve. I have no 24mm combination wrench, so used an adjustable to break it loose. Not enough clearance. Resorted to careful channel lock to get it to hand tight. No problem.

But then I loosened it by hand and it wedged up against the rear top engine mount. Can't remove. OH CRAP, I thought. I can't adjust the intake valve...

Wrong... It's OK. Turns out the upper engine mounting bracket has those 3 bolts to remove (visible in the pic). There will be plenty of room to get the cap off and inspect the valves once the bracket is removed. NOT so much room for adjusting the valve. It's tight!

We ordered this bike within hours of showing up on PSM website. I think this verifies that this is a new version of the Temp X. Has anyone run into this on their bikes received before April 2024?

Now I agree, this frame has been re-engineered. This is a minor issue, really a non-issue. Just an inconvenience. I've had much bigger nightmares with mainstream auto manufacturers

I am impressed that the exhaust valve seems close to perfect out of the crate.

Oh yeah... different !

I'd love to have a side by side comp. I don't think the engine dimensions changed. They seem to have put the engine more upright. Tons of room up front, barely any behind the head.

I'll get some side by sides with my buddy's '24 X sometime soon. Still having a ton of issues with my left hand after my wreck last month and haven't been able to ride much since

I ordered my Templar X May 10, 2024. That engine authentication sticker is new to me on the three Chinese bikes I have ordered. The rear shock has a date code of 2024/04/01 laser etched on it. Both front and rear bearings had more than enough "clear" grease to the point of excess, the steering bearings also have some blue grease around the stem area.

The more I look at the Zongshen NB300 ZS174MN-5, the more I am convinced it will fit into this new frame. It's engine dimensions are within 5-10mm of the PR250. The CB300RL ZS175FMN looks like it's air cooled clone to a point. The NB300 is offered with 5sp kick and electric start or just electric start with 6 gears.
