Started cleaning the carb and looking for a rebuild kit then I stumbled across a carb on ebay $18.00 free shipping SOLD! So what the heck I like easy, so much for cleaning and rebuilding. This one was really corroded though so probably better off, never seen one with the white chalky stuff so bad. Maybe it the aluminium oxidizing or something?
Also found my choke cable. Getting closer to starting this thing.

That was a hard 1200 mile life it lived before it died. Hope you will be able to resurrect it.

Seriously though, right? Makes you wonder about some people. I even double checked and that odometer is still working so I'm pretty confident that's the true mileage.

As evidenced by the knobbie condition, looks like not too many miles Un less they been replaced. Also , now a good time to use the electric grease on the terminals.

I really tried to keep my OCD in check until I received my parts to get Swamp Thing fired up this weekend but in the end I had to do something.
So first I changed the oil, haha, we see how that went, next time remove skid plate Then I attacked those shiny chrome wheels and front forks, they came out pretty nice. Then my eyes kept coming back to the rusted exhaust, okay so I caved and pulled it off. So it seems the same high caliber mechanic that was taking care of the rest of the bike had a go at the exhaust at some point. So first I find this crap packed in the head port And then this crap where the header and muffler meet So my initial thought is here we go, something is wrong where the pipe seats on the head so he packed it with this stuff to make it seal. But no, turns out he removed the gaskets and most likely lost the bushing that goes where the two pipes meet. So 15.00 later I have the parts coming.

Overall though the pipe cleaned up pretty nice for just a wire wheel and WD40 wipe down. I'll paint it at some point.
Here you can see the gap in the join as a result of the missing bushing Doesn't look too bad now all things considered.... So now I wait, hopefully I should have the throttle cable and carb shortly and we can see how she runs.

Noticed it looks real clean too. And a spray can of satin black on the frame work etc while you wait, rattle cans are cheap.
