No bike in the near future hopefully by summer. Wife is at a turning point in her job problem hopefully all will be settled soon. Then sit down and talk with all the creditors and see what I can work out. In the meantime I have my fleet of Puch mopeds to keep me busy. If your ever cold stone tapped broke post an ad for an old moped. You will soon be buried in them. At least it's something to work on. Plus they are actually worth some money once you get them running and cleaned up. Mopeds just may fund my new bike/scooter whichever I get.

I could be wrong, but that small, hard to get at screw at the front of the carb is the fuel/air mixture screw for idle/small throttle opening, if any throttle opening at all. If you think it is lean when you are on the throttle, lower the clip on the needle. As for the backfiring when you close the throttle, try this little experiment. Pull the choke on a small amount and see if it goes away. I have an Arctic Cat ATV that does the same thing. In my situation with the ATV, it is too lean, & is probably your case too. Adjusting the idle fuel/air mixture screw will probably help that. Adjusting that screw will probably affect your idle speed too.

That's a good idea to use the choke to check things out. I will have to try that.
