Yeah, since it's popping in the wall and right back out opposite it, I really don't need more then a foot of wire there. That would give plenty of working room. I ended up with 1.5ft wires for most things. I'm going to run vga, usb, and 2 3.5mm jacks from one side to the other.
Sorry no not changing gender, I just meant connect the back of one wall plate to the back of the next. I got everything I need, I ordered from a site called http://www.mycablemart.com/ they have really good prices and everything I needed.

Dont forget that you will have to offset the boxes. They wont fit back to back.

I'm actually not going to use the retrofit boxes, the site I linked to had another option that I chose to go with, http://www.mycablemart.com/store/car...t_detail&p=886 This will give me lots of room

That's a neat idea!
I'm guessing that those are shallow enough to position back-to-back.

That's what I'm figuring, we'll see how it turns out. Since I'm not running any real power through there I don't need the actual electrical box.

Nice work and no goof plate! (over-sized cover plate) I know when I'm cutting the hole, I better have a goof plate on hand to cover the oops. Those metal retrofit boxes are nicer than the plastic ones with the wings/tabs. They stay put better for hi use receptacles.
