Gotcha.
I have not ruled out 2 Strokes, but I think I do better with the 4 Stroke powerband. I also want an electric starter and hopefully EFI neither of which is on the 300's... New Husky 300's are selling for $5,000 though...

My skills are enough to handle the 2 stroke in the desert, but I am concerned for hitting the powerband in the words or a technical climb. I'm too old to go to the hospital.
I have ridden KTM 200's and KDX 200-220's in the woods and I can handle them, but a 300 may be an issue. I don't know if the Husky's have a charging system/lighting coil which is important as I would D/S it....

There are a few things you can do to make the power more controllable such as a flywheel weight and slow turn throttle tube. If i am doing anything technical i have a finger on the clutch just in case. I generally don't have a problem on my 380 since it makes plenty of power way before the powerband I dont even have to be close to it. The transition is very smooth as well, its not like a 125 where there is no power then it just jump on the power band visiously

I have not ridden a 300 Husky yet but I might... 8)
They are a championship enduro/long distance race bike and known for a tractabale powerband, but that means different things to different riders. 8O Reports I have read on line say it has a good bottom end but a very strong midrange and a good top end. It's all about the border between the low and the midrange... I like the fact that a 2 stroke has no valves. A top end overhaul can be done very very cheaply and literally in about an hour and a half... Other things I have to consider is luggage rack availablity. I need a place for my cheese cutting board.

The Husky TE 310R has a 4-stroke engine. Does it have valve problems like the Honda CRF bikes? How reliable is the Husky valve train? Spud

I'm sure the 310 has plenty of juice but to be honest since I've had the YZF I'm hooked on 400cc-500cc class horsepower and I'm spoiled now.

The handwriting is on the wall, Doc. You have drunk the orange kool-aid, and become an addict.

In my favor I'm still a tight wad.
I see the Husqvarna as a lower priced ticket of admission to the world of European high performance off road bikes. Maybe... Plus as you know, I like different.
