My new jetmoto gy200 vibrates a lot! Much like your bike does...In fact it vibrates so much that it broke the small pipe exiting the rear of the muffler which fell inside causing a metallic rattle that took me a while to find! (dealer is giving me a new pipe) All my engine mount bolts are tight and it seems like an out of balance condition in the motor itself. (163fml-2) IMO..I don't think adjusting the valves will help!

The old song "good vibrations" doesn't apply when you don't have a stop button and tingling pegs, bars and seat are not my idea of a fun ride.

Sometimes rubber isolating the pipe and bars from the frame helps along with gel grips and I might try that. Other than an engine balance we might be stuck with the vibes. Bad luck or normal stuff, I'd like to know!

Keep in touch with any findings!
Gary

The OHC motor in my Roketa is very well balanced. Even at max rpm, there is hardly any vibration at all. Must be inherent in the pushrod engine, but I don't see why the valve train would have anythind to do with it??? I believe the bottom ends are all the same in the FML 200's. Weird.

I'm wondering if I'm going to have to make some rubber engine mounts so it vibrates and doesn't transfer all of it to me...

Very good catch Pumpkin! The bike did feel a little weird to me the other night, like something wasn't quite right. That loose pipe could have torn something up. Check your exhaust manifold bolts everyone!

Thanks again for all your help today! I hope you don't get sick! AGAIN!

I tightened the exhaust nuts when I first got it and then the studs started spinning so I stopped.
I'll check'em again tonight.

Pumpkin,
A few of us here have drilled out the back of our mufflers and done the acorrding carb mods, I'm sure this is a better option for exhaust note than a leaky pipe... Although, none of us seem to agree on what size hole to drill, trial and error, It really makes it sound like a bike and not a sewing machine...

Be careful about over tightening the exhaust studs as they could possibly strip!

There is a torque # but I don't know what it is. It is probably the same as the xr200 #.

Get use to the vibration, my GY5 has been the same since I bought it and after 3500 miles still vibrates like it did @ 1 mile. Its just the nature of the beast, at certain RPM's the vibration isnt that bad then again at 75 mph you can make a milk shake on it. I quit looking for the problem (is it really a problem?) and just ride the heck out of it. I'll tell you one thing the vibration get so bad at times that it locks up my kick start in the up position and takes a bit of force to get it in to position to kick it over...its more an annoyance than a problem, so I say just quit nit picking and ride the hell out of it. BTW 3563 miles and not a single problem just changed the chain, went to a Tsubaki QR series 428H X 130 and wow what a difference a pre stretched chain makes.

Vibrations that I've had, and corrected:
bottom motor mount bolt broke; caused the motor to vibrate like hell
One of the bolts holding the exhaust pipe came loose; caused the bike to vibrate like hell
The skid plate caused slight vibration; gotta keep those bolts tight

Just took'er for a spin after drilling the exhaust, putting the side plates back on (put some shoe goo where the plate presses against the rear fender), removed the tag bracket, removed the passenger footpegs, and installed the skidplate with thick rubber bushings. I think that made the most difference but I won't know the true test until I take'er for a longer run tomorrow when the sun comes out.

Seems like the bike may have potential.

I wish there was a way to make these things run smooth. I ride mine to work every day and that's on the good ol' Georgia Autobahn of 400, which means 15 minutes or so at top speed. I keep the throttle pegged to the max the entire time and the incline sort of dictates my speed between 60 and 70. But, I feel like I'm being rattled to death the entire time. The rear view mirrors are all but useless because you'll just see a blur of green and black, maybe headlights. Sometimes my wrists ache from it, and my feet always feel tingly when I get off. That sort of feeling you get when your foot is asleep.

And my exhaust manifold bolts actually rattled right off haha. Suddenly I heard some very loud backfiring when I downshifted. So I had to pull over and find two other bolts on the bike that would fit it to get home.
