Complaining about people commenting on it not being that loud doesn't add anything either, and seeing as this is a thread that isn't yours that got dug up out of the graveyard, I particularly don't care

Fact: it isn't that loud.

80db = road noise from a busy residential road from 15ft away.

Stock V-strom 650 at idle from 1 meter 78db.

Your bike is now 79db from the same distance.

1db - not enough for your ears and brain to actually perceive.

A single cylinders biggest issue. The single exhaust pulse is picked up by the ear as a sharper sound by its nature as there are no other waves to reflect against or blend into. This causes our brain to believe it is louder than it actually is.

I commend you for being able to get it a little quieter.

Since you seem to think I absolutely have to contribute something. Want to get the noise down more consider a baffle insert at the mid pipe. Assuming you can find one of the right diameter. That will be the best way to ensure it's quieter, and will help tame down the pulses, before it even reaches the muffler. Since power loss is no concern.

Otherwise, look into a completely factory crf230 exhaust system. That’s what my approach would be. OEM Honda is going to be your best bet, in my opinion.
