I think in Mike's video he states that the base Templar 250 actually has a lower seat height than the 150.

He does, you're right but he never measured them that I know of. I actually watched both videos side by side at the moments when he sits on them and they seem pretty similar. The Storm is so light that is why it has my attention. I suppose the Hawk might be even lower still.

I'm in WA too...can't swear by it but I think I saw a comment somewhere that he is in the North Cascades. I'm in SW WA but the terrain looks identical.

I was thnking somewhere near Snoqualmie/Snoqualmie pass. But could be up on Mt Baker hwy, may Western slope near Concrete. It looks great.

I see you know this state pretty well. I live in the Camas, WA area, spend a LOT of time in the Gifford Pinchot and have a cabin up near white pass where I plan on putting the X through its paces.

Buddy came by today with a brand new templar 250 so I took a few pics of the base model and the X side by side. Rode them back to back throughout the day. The X model is noticeably more refined with significantly better suspension but the smaller dimensions of the base model allow smaller riders a significant boost in confidence. Both bikes performed admirably on our singletrack that is not designed for simple trail bikes.

I was a gorge rat for years when I lived in Portland. Chinese food from the Safeway in Hood River and Full Sail Amber six pack after a session. Windsurfing at the amazing launch spots on both sides of the river... Now THAT was an expensive sport if you wanted good boards and rigging. I went into debt, but it was worth it. I had a broad quiver because I used to head out to Heceta or Florence when the storms come in. I remember having a bowl of chowder at a little place in Florence on the way out of town after a 40 to 45 knot day. I think it is the Blue Heron Bed and Breakfast now.

I fell though my sail tumbling in big air on the lip on the way out (20 foot draft, more than 40 feet between trough and peak-seriously challenging changes in wind through these transitions). At the peak the wind would top out over 50mph. Smallest I had was a 3.0m wave sail. Too much. Amazingly, the ripped sail was enough to easily pull me back to shore (side onshore wind), but I ended up a half mile South of the launch at the jetty. Walk of shame

My arms were barely functional and I was still shivering after derigging, packing up, and changing. That chowder and the thick crusty bread revived me. Hot oysters, fish, creamy broth. I will never forget it. It was enough to make the trip back to Portland that evening. This was the kind of experience that gets seared into your brain. I have one photo somewhere (gave my camera to someone on the beach). I was like 15 feet above the wave on the way out. It was essentially impossible to keep the board in the water crossing the crests on the way out. The wind was from the NorthWest. The water just dropped out beneath you leaving the crest.

The Storm was on my radar but unavailable when I was shopping for my sons birthday-ended up getting him an Apollo T40 140cc from TXPS:

Free shipping pushed me over the edge to buy that, should be here next week. I’ve had good experiences with Xpro though, my Templar X, #1 sons Bolt 125 and #2 sons 49cc ATV all came from them. All better than expected.

Thumper waxes poetic about Washington…my experience at Ft. Lewis for 3 years was less pleasant. Nothing like driving through the training area and finding a meth cooking site lol.

Whoa! Nothing like finding criminal activity right in your back yard. Those operations generate a stench. They had to be bold as hell to operate right under their noses on base

Your son is in for a real treat! Apollo makes some great pit bikes. Nice swingarm on this one.

Hello. I have a storm and have a lot of time on it. There are some things you DEFINITELY want to know for off-road riding.


I'm also 5' 6" tall and weigh about 135 to 140.

I'm not sure if you ended up buying her one already or still on the fence as this post is a little dated. Let me know if I can help inform you about the Storm 150 DLX
