I hear you about looking for the 7th gear I've done that a few times myself. I'm going to check to see if I have room in the front for a larger front sprocket. I hope it's as easy as the 15 to 17 tooth conversion was on the Hensim Not that it doesn't go fast enough already, but gear ratios could always be improved on... |

Didnt want to post any pics till bike was legal, but now it seems it is.I would like other pitster 400 owners to post pics of how they are keeping the speedo hub from rotating backwards when backing the bike up. Mine did this and kinked the cable bad and it snapped on first ride. One of my pics is of the small bracket i made to stop this.

thanks much ,kato,,,,,the pitster does probably need to go up one tooth on the front sprocket ,i wonder what year xr250r to try on it.the front suspension bottoms and dives easily the adjustments didn't do much ,but maybe i went the wrong way.i think it will be worth the $2000,, but if we can't get parts maybe not.

Glad you got tags for it.
If you remove the sprocket and show us the measurements, we could figure it out.

Congratulations, Fish! I am glad you got your license plate.
The Pitster Pro LXT 400 appears to employ the JTF1321 sprocket, which fits the 96-04, Honda XR250R motorcycles. http://www.jtsprockets.com/52.0.html...el_uid=4847&p= The J.T. sprocket is available in sizes 12T, and 13T. Spud

Spud, you've said that the bottom end is like an XR250, but which year(s)? The Pitster doesn't seem to have an external oil line like the '96 to '04 models, so I was wondering if the bottom end matches the pre-'95 version.

However, as I said earlier, since I purchased my used, Honda XR650L, I have stopped researching the LXT 400. Therefore, the LXT 400 owners probably know more than I. Spud

Awesome!
Will Pitster send you a new speedo cable, and in what time frame. Great looking bike. I like it especially with the license plate. :P

Doc, as far as the speedocable,I called 3 weeks ago when the cable broke within 15 minutes of getting bike assembled,,,,pitster guy said they would take care of it and ship it out,,,,,so finally monday I called after they didn't answer several emails, and they don't have the cable in stock.I hope its not a case of pitster washing their hands of this bike, hence the super low price and then they are out of it once they rid themselves of all the bikes.I'm going to try and order some parts ,,will let you all know how I make out.

This is why I didn't bite on the same offer. I was SO tempted! Maybe you can take the cable to the motorcycle dealer and have them match it up. It's gotta be from another bike somewhere. You may also have luck scanning the microfiche on BB or similar websites and looking at the parts drawings. You will still have to engineer a devise to keep it from happening again. As you may recall, Q ate 3 speedo cables (inner cable snapped), under warantee, before I bought a Suzuki cable which has been fine.
