The TT250 exhaust system will fit the Hawk but you will have to buy the header and exhaust as the connection between the header and exhaust are different types. TT250 has a slip connect where as the Hawk utilizes a sanitary clamp. If you want to keep the exhaust quiet, just remove the catalytic converter by either cutting it off and replacing with a section of pipe or cut it open, remove the catalytic converter then weld back.

The TT250 exhaust would be a good option for whisper quiet operation... but the muffler and header section are going to run you $120, plus shipping - which to my door was another $30 via UPS Ground.
The ebay exhaust will cost less than that, and is stainless steel. The downside is the random fitment issues due to manufacturing inconsistency. As far as noise, honestly it isn't that loud. Louder than the stock system, but almost everything is louder than the stock system. I can ride through my neighborhood at 2AM and not feel like I am annoying my neighbors. It really only gets louder when you get on the throttle, but at part throttle it's decently quiet. Plus, right now you can get the whole system for $98. https://www.ebay.com/itm/FOR-HONDA-C...kAAOSwndZaVwNF If you want to spend more then you can get stainless steel, fitment, and a muffler with an approved spark arrestor and install the FMF Q4 exhaust. Prepare to spend, but I have seen the full systems on sale for less than $300 from time to time.

thanks for all the info guys. Several options to consider. When I bought my Hawk I had an idea which had been brewing in the back of my mind for a few years, to see how well these inexpensive bikes could be made to run and for how little money. A guy on the Minimalist Touring site had over 40,000 miles on his Lifan. I also wanted something that I wouldn't be afraid of dropping while trail riding. With that idea in mind I might just try gutting the Catalytic Converter as it is the cheapest option by far. A plus is that it will give me something to do while waiting for Tuesdays 18" of snow to melt.

Thats good to know, as I have a few bits I want to order myself, and the shipping was ridiculous.

Having grown up at RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, and RAF Upper Heyford, I can follow your Liverpool accent and proper spelling just fine. No complaints from this end!

Your spelling is safe with Canadians as well.

when I lived in California, it was obvious I wasn't "local" but I never had any difficulty being understood, or understanding others. My experience in New England has been a continuing linguistic adventure, especially when I first encountered people from "Down East" Maine, some of whom might as well have been speaking Swahili, I would have understood as much.

I understand the Queen's English just fine as well. I had a friend for many years that moved here from Doncaster (with an overly strong Northern accent), as well as a couple of Kiwi friends I still keep in touch with.
