I have the Acerbis 6.6 gallon fuel tank on the DR, so I've never had to carry extra fuel, and all my trips so far have been near-enough to water that I could either boil it or use my lifestraw. The DR was originally set up to do the Trans-America Trail, but that trip fell through when my brother-in-law got orders from Washington State to Germany.
