You're getting closer, Jim. Just a few small and inexpensive things. Ahhhh, the world of classic (or Chinese) motorcycle ownership! 8)

Good job on the electronics parts store score.

I've not had a project in weeks now and its starting to kill me...

I scan CL daily looking for something. I never know what it is, but I'm looking. I do know it costs less than $1,000 though. :P

If I had the time I'd like to get an old Cadillac. I like Caddys. I also like military Jeeps.

I think you found it

Today we set the points and the timing. We had set the points previously (not me specifically), but not the timing I don't think. I've ordered carb kits with new jets which we'll be picking up tomorrow.

I bet that will sort out your issues.

After all, you have an antique, but an antique HONDA. :P

It lacks the character of your BSA though

You'll save money not having to get your fillings replaced after every ride though.

Do you set timing statically or dynamically?

Statically.

Got the carb kits today. Got everything disassembled (exhaust has to come off to get the side covers, air cleaners, etc to finally get to the carbs). Carbs redone, and will try and get it back together tomorrow. I want to ride it to Penticton on Friday... Cutting it a bit close.

Wow, Peach City Beach Cruise time already? I can't believe it's been a whole year. Do somebody have a truck you can put the bike in if it gives you trouble?

Indeed Weld, it's that time of year again

I haven't decided for sure if the Honda's going, I want it too, but we will see...

A truck can be arranged for someone coming up later in the day if I had problems.

Today I got it all back together and fiddled with the settings. I had it sputtering and popping, but then I fiddled some more and it seems like it may be ok. The carbs also aren't leaking anymore as far as I can tell... I'm going to try to test ride it tomorrow after work.

2 carbs is a nuisance, I like single cylinders :P

Can you get away with a single carb and maintain your collector status?

I hope your test ride turns out well, Jim.

P.S. I agree; I really enjoy the simplicity of single cylinder motorcycles.

I don't think so Weld, though I am not to clear on all the rules. I think it needs to be stock appearing though.

Oh well I'm sure it will be good at some point, I'll try it out tomorrow...

I went and started my Kawasaki, it's been sitting since last year, there is stabilizer in the gas, but it wasn't on a charger or anything. Fired right up. I think I'm going to want to sell it, but I'm not sure yet. If the Honda is going strong it will be an easier decision.

Thanks Spud, I'll let you know tomorrow evening some time how it went.

Well I took the Kawasaki to Penticton.

Maybe the Honda will make it next year.

I'm thinking of picking up some universal (emgo maybe) coils, and new plugs, boots, and wires for the Honda.

As well I want to re-check the timing and points gap.

I also put the Kawi up on Craigslist, http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rd...466459722.html

I put it for $4600 but would actually like to get $4200, which I think is fair, not too high, or too low, given the market, and I tried to factor in that it needs tires, and has what some would consider high miles.
