When I had my clutch apart I found that the spring washer under the primary drive nut was install backwards. The "out" side was facing in. If yours was the same way it may have had something to do with the nut backing out.

What spring? There wasn't much left of it? We'll never know!

It's a thick cupped spring washer. I doubt it was chewed up completely. Maybe it was missing to start with.
It would look similar to this. |

Wolftrax...So if your taking the 250 honda, how are you going to handle the "ditching" of the bike at journeys end? Still going with the original plan?

Didn't find it. I think we may have found the culprit.

HU ? Don't know what this means
Fly back to states leaving bike in Argentina...that was the plan i thought. Now you have a potentially more valuable bike left there. No, pete...wouldnt make much sense to be looking for a 250crf in a country 6000 miles from me.

I would guess HU is Horizons Unlimited. They have forums for people who want to buy the bike and continue the journey. Say someone wanting to ride from his destination back to the states.
Since the bike is registered in the US that makes it more valuable to someone wanting to come to the US due to no import mess. |

Where I come from, that's called a Bellevile Washer. It was most popularly used early in the 20th century on clutches that lock off as well as on, usually controlled by a hand lever. Farm tractors, road graders, bulldozers etc. The diaphram clutch pressure spring was a development of this.

Currently in Loja Ecuador. Sorry I didn't make it to George West. Pretty much slabbed it through Texas. Beauty shot from South of Canar Ecuador.

Glad to read from you! I take it you will be riding back since the CRF is not a 'ride and dump' kind of bike...
