It's not too bad really. Definitely acceptable. It's not as shrill of a sound as the FMF TC2 I've run. Plus, it spruced up the mid-range. I liked that part.
Every time I ride the damn thing, I change my mind about downsizing it. It's simply a pleasure to ride. Been nothing less than an excellent bike. I bet the TU250 motor is a nice upgrade from the DR200 motor.....though the little 200 will still spank the TT250 CG motor. ;-)

exhaust

I'm probably the last person to complain about a loud exhaust, but it's really loud AND sounds bad. So i'll probably just spend the money and get the lextek after I decide which one I want.

I have a full Yoshimura on my DRZ - with the spark arrestor/baffle removed it's loud, but I love it because it sounds good.

Cool! Did you ever end up having to weld or did this one slip on? I grabbed a generic muffler off Amazon and it has been sitting in the garage for a few months now.

Lextek

Hey guys, sorry about the delay! I didn't get notifications about your posts for whatever reason.

@culcune - Here's the video I posted to my Instagram! Follow me there if you guys happen to use it and wanna see more of my motorcycle posts. I post other crap there too. lol

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw7QiIwhcXX/

@2LZ - I bought from Vcyclenut.com - he's the Lextek dealer for the US. Great guy - quick response. I had to go back and look at my paypal history - looks like it was $121.00. Looks to be a good quality pipe.

@dh - I already had the rest of the Stainless Lextek system, so this ended up mounting straight to it with no problems. I did have to use a couple spacers to stand it off a bit further from the frame of the bike, but it wasn't a big deal at all.

YUMA??? My folks wintered in Yuma. My Dad, was a vender out at the flea market, at the dog track. In his old age, he bought a dash cover manufacturing company from the bankruptcy court in Fullerton, CA. Moved it to Yuma. I think he called it Dashguard. I helped him sell it out several years ago. When he first moved to Yuma, he bought some rv and trailer lots, in Yuma Gardens, I think was the name, convinced me to do the same. I scoffed at the idea, but bought them later sold them at a profit. He also wanted me to buy some lots in Mesquite, I thought that was ridiculous, and of course passed on that idea. Bad decision. I did spend a summer with the folks in Yuma. Hot, hot, hot! One good thing, every night there was a different senior special at some restaurant!. ok enough of my stories!

Thanks for the info! Doesn't sound too loud. I guess I'm getting old!
So it takes the entire system to fit it? Won't mount on the stock headpipe?? What was the opening size of the muffler? I may be able to get an adapter to the stock 1.25"

It's really not that loud at all and sounds a ton better than the shitty one i had on it. I *THINK* it would fit on the stock pipe, but i'd have to measure the outside diameter of both the pipes. I posted pics and the measurements of the pipes a few months back when i got the new vs the old ones.

Groovy. I'm guessing from the price point you mentioned, it's probably this one...

What motor does the XF250 have? What is it a clone of?

Charles.

It is rare in that it is NOT Honda-ish, but rather a clone of a Suzuki; the engine used in the Suzuki TU250 but without fuel-injection. An older bike made by the same OEM but sold via a company called Qlink, used a 200cc engine that is reportedly near-identical to the engine in the DR200. Member 2LZ still has his Qlink, so can vouch for how close it is to the Suzuki.

On a side note, eerily, the Qlink website is still up; here are the two bikes that used the DR200 clone engine...

That is crazy! My friend worked at his father's upholstery company, and my friend partnered up with a dash cover company out of Phoenix and sells them at one of the larger swap meets during snowbird season. Ironically, your old company must have been gone for a while, because this friend has been selling numerous dash covers to people (many from Canada) who have seemingly NEVER seen, nor heard of them before. In a 'past life' I worked for California Car Cover Company, and I recall selling quite a few via catalog (prior to the internet, circa 1993-'94), so I know they have been around.

Interestingly, I Googled Dashguard, and it appears to still be in business! http://www.dashguard.com/
