Fair enough with wanting a bike for the street. I'm also sorry about the hockey helmet mention but hockey is pretty big in North Dakota and it is also big in in Minnesota.

No need to apologize. It is hard to tell the persons intentions without seeing or hearing them.

And The helmet does kinda look like hockey helmet with the shield. BTW really like the helmet I did not want a full face. I also must wear it until I get my motorcycle endorsement I am riding with an instructional permit now.

I could see that the Hawk is more of a dirt bike with it wheels and tires than the Brozz. But in the end as long as we are having a good time is all that maters.

Tonight I took the carb off and adjusted the Air Fuel Adjust on the bottom of the carb. PITA it is not slotted it is a half circle head.

I am not sure how far out I went but I am thinking around 2 - 2.5 turns.

The needle rod does not have slots so I ran to the hardware store a got two flat washers and put them under the clip.

It starts easier now and idles better. Seems more even up to 1/2 throttle when revving it.

I pulled the plug and it looks pretty white running way lean I am thinking.

It is raining so no road test

Getting better every day.

As far a breaking it in someone here said they where going to keep it under 3000 or 4000 RPM until 500 miles is that really necessary?

I have cracked it a few times to just see what it is doing at higher RPM did not stay at any high RPM for long.

I run it up threw the gears hitting probably 5500 doing it by ear mostly.

Comments?

It's okay to open it up for a limited time. I have always wondered scooter break in though. Do they just push it and use limited throttle?

So the air / fuel mixture screw is not behind that metal plug? I was going to remove that tomorrow to access it.

I did not remove any plug the Air Fuel Adjustment is as I said see this pic
http://www.chinariders.net/showpost....86&postcount=9

I do not think there is any other external adjustment besides the idle screw.

Gotta remember Merlin, our bikes have the Keihin carb, not the Mikuni knockoff that comes on the hawk

Sucks to hear our needle don't have 5 slots like a lot of carbs. I haven't been in there yet. I can't wait til my jets get in, running these machines the way they are makes me a tad nervous. I don't truly know how critical the break-in rpm rules are, but I'm right there with ya I've ripped mine up to 5500 a couple times already, but only in 5th...she acts like it just runs out of fuel.

Whatever that "viglink" crap is keeps me from seeing anyone's links. I can't be the only one with this issue. It seems to be something on the forum side.
