Hiya, Spudrider.

Sorry to ruin your day, but I'm here. Seriously thinking of selling the '04 and getting on the RX3 list.

Quite the opposite, you have made my day. Welcome to these forums; we are very glad you joined us.

I answered your tire questions over on the TW200 forum. As I also replied over there, I believe there are some unsold RX3 bikes in the current shipment. I think the color red is sold out, but you can still have a choice of orange, blue, or white. It you are interested in getting a bike in April, I encourage you to call CSC motorcycles tomorrow. The contact information is listed on their website, which is linked below.

http://californiascooterco.com/

Joe Berk, a.k.a. CSCDude, checks in here frequently. He can verify the availability of unsold RX3 bikes in the current shipment.

Regarding the forks -
My bike has yet to see mud but commuting in the rain with salted roads plus a good helping of sand, courtesy of a nearby quarry, i have only noticed a bit of build up at the bottom of the fork tubes not near the fork seals. This i think is from water running down rather than a sand blast effect.

some spray does come up the front and also hit the front of the tank through the steering yoke but probably this will be eliminated with the upgraded mudguard thats on your bikes

Have done a test order on Taobao (thanks to spuds tutorial)
extended windscreen
wing mirrors
oil filters

Did my first oil and filter change the other day,no problems, magnetic drain plug was clean of filings. The two oil strainers had trapped a few small swarf bits of aluminium . All good

please excuse any typing errors , sodding cat is allover my keyboard
Your apology is accepted, mate. Your services to The Cult of The Zong have far exceeded any minor indiscretion.

Thanks for confirming the forks are pretty well protected with the stock equipment. I'm glad you negotiated your first Taobao transaction. Now that you know the procedure, all subsequent orders will be much easier.

I am an ailurophile; let's see some photos of you cat.

Thirty minutes ago the Hanjin Germany was sailing southeast at 13.1 knots from the following location.

LAT: 39° 10' N LONG: 131° 27' W

The vessel was at the same latitude as Carson City, the capitol of Nevada, which is located near Lake Tahoe. The latitude of the ship was slightly north of Sacramento, and well south of Salt Lake City, the respective capitols of California and Utah.

I wonder if the one on the upgraded LED headlight is also for show. You'll have to let us know when your order comes in.

btw, how long do orders from taobao normally take to ship? I guess there's the time to ship to the agent plus repackaging and shipping to you.

Indeed, I certainly will report on the design and effective lighting of the upgraded LED headlight.

The length of time required before the Taobao agent ships the parcel is proportionate to the number of items ordered. You take a big hit on shipping costs for the first 500 grams (1.1 pounds). Each subsequent, 500 grams is shipped at a much reduced cost. Therefore, I always place a large order, and get everything I think I will need, so I can minimize the shipping cost per item.

Since I always place a large order, I expect to wait about a month before all the items from the various vendors are finally delivered to my agent. In my experience, about 85% of the items usually arrive in two weeks, but the last 15% of the items usually take another two weeks to show up.

After all the items arrive, I request photographs of the items to make sure everything is correct. After the agent packs the items and ships them, I usually receive the parcel in about 7 days. If one only orders a few items, he is likely to receive them within three weeks after he orders them.

Congqing, China is a very long way from Los Angeles, California. In honor of the long voyage across the 'pond,' here is another time lapse video of Chongqing, the city of manufacture for our Zongshen motorcycles. The following video is a slower time lapse, taken at closer distances. Therefore, the people and vehicles almost appear toy-like in this video. I really enjoyed watching the large backhoe shown at the 2:30 mark in the video.

I think I found a use for that lower lamp in the stock headlight. If the translation is right, Taobao has a couple of xenon conversion kits for the stock headlight. There are even colored lamps for the top left and right accent lights.

It seems to turn the upper lamp into a colored accent light with an LED ring and puts a xenon into the the lower projector. I don't care for all the colors, but a nice bright xenon is tempting.

That is very interesting; thank you for sharing that information. Are you planning to give the Xenon bulb a try?

I really like the LED headlight I installed in my Honda CRF250X.

http://chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=13947

I would install the same LED bulb in my Zongshen RX3, but I don't know if there is enough room inside the headlight assembly.

Therefore, I decided to buy the updated, LED headlight assembly from Taobao.

I will compare the LED headlight to the stock headlight, and post my findings after my RX3 motorcycle arrives.

Fifteen minutes ago the Hanjin Germany was sailing southeast at 13.3 knots from the following location.

LAT: 37° 49' N LONG: 129° 21' W

The vessel was located about 375 statute miles due west of San Francisco, and about 675 statute miles from the port of Long Beach.

Because of the front fender supports, I don't think one can easily install conventional fork guards. In the worst case scenario, I would install fork tubes the first time I had the forks disassembled. The fork tubes would fit under the fender and stock fork guards, and would not detract from the bike's appearance. Indeed, the fork tubes would be hardly noticeable. I would secure the ends of the fork tube with zip ties. You could snip one of the zip ties periodically, and lift the fork tube to inspect for oil seal leaks. Of course, you would need to ensure the right fork tube does not abrade the speedometer pickup cable as the forks expand and contract.

However, I suspect the stock fender and lower fork guards do a pretty good job of covering the inner fork tubes. Of course, we will know more regarding this subject after our bikes arrive. Perhaps Katflap can tell us how well the stock equipment protects the lower fork tubes from mud, et cetera.
Another option is fork bags, since they're quite light and reasonably durable. They're cheap enough to have a spare set on hand.

That's good to hear. It sounds like the break-in process is going well.

Hey, I know you from the TW forums.
Are you jumping ship, or just getting another competing bike?
