The sea was an additional optional item back then. Embroidered leather.

More vintage than this, at any rate.

And a San Marco at that.I have that style on Fat Ass Wally now.

Sweet bike, Doc. I'm afraid that if I rode one, my curmudgeonly retro grouch ways would be sorely tested.

Here's a vintage one for ya, Doc. Not my oldest, but the one I've owned longest. Got it new in May 1970.

1970 Robin Hood Lenton Sport. Basically a low end Raleigh that has been heavily modified over the last 46 years. Been worked on some more since this pic was taken.

How cool is that. Not only to have such a beautiful vintage bicycle, but to have had it ever since it was new. That is just too cool.

My first "real" high performance bicycle was a Bridgestone RB1. I sorely wish that I still had that.

In fairness I do have an older bike. It is a 1993 Trek 2120. Carbon fiber, but bar end shifters. That's his vintage as it gets for me.

My fat bike in its native habitat.
Kickstand doesn't work too well on the beach unless I stick a shell under it.

What great pics, WB!

How I miss warm weather on the beach. That firm sand must be great fun to ride on. Has the salty air dmaged anytjhing on the bike?

Not yet Doc. I will need to get in the habit of hosing off the bikes and wiping with some wd40 after beach rides. Its tough to kill the rust monster once its out of the cage.

Dang. Rescuing another one. No pics yet but it's an early sixties Raleigh(yes, another one) Sports. I normally wouldn't look at another Sports anymore but this one is the rare-ish 23" frame. I also know the history of it with the current owner because I talked him through the rebuild, although I did the rear hub. Kinda ugly and scruffy looking but it works well.

I'd like to try a 3 speed hub with a coaster brake. I have seen some mountain bikes equipped that way.
