I replaced mine with this one.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Had to drill 2 mounting holes and connect 3 wires. Maybe a 10 minute swap and looks clean. Plus the colors change and you get a tach. |

It does use the speedo cable which just screws on. The existing speedo sits on a bracket. the one I bought has a smaller diameter so I just drilled holes in between the stock ones. One of the reviewers on amazon figured out how to program the speedo to change it to mph and adjust the speed readout. I followed his instructions to the letter and worked perfectly for me. Mine has been rained on a few times with no issue so the quality is adequate

I’m very happy with mine.
Figuring out how to wire the tach up took me an embarrassingly long time, so I will save you the trouble. Run the tach wire to the CDI under the gas tank. If memory serves, I believe it was to the blue wire in the plug. I just stripped the wire and plugged the OE connector over it. I set the speedo hz to the same specs as “Justin n.”’s review and is nearly dead nuts. I tested it on one of those street side speed trailer things they leave around rich neighborhoods to scare people into slowing frown. Last edited by Indianaman; 10-03-2019 at 10:03 PM. Reason: I used the stock gauge backlight plug for power and ground and left the fuel wire disconnected. |

My college lit professor would be rolling in her chair for my incipient lack of a block quote here and of a formal reference, but here goes:
“with the key in the "OFF" position, press and hold the button on the back and turn the key to "ON." The gauge will display "P 0 0 0 0." Using a short press to change number and long press to change position, you want to change that reading to " P 6 6 1 0" - This enters the menu to change the settings. 1st menu: screen reads 00466 - This is the frequency used to calibrate the speedo and represents 46.6hz = 60KPH. I had to change mine to read 00505 (50.5 hz). You may have to play with this setting depending on the bike and wheel size. short press to move to the next menu. 2nd menu: screen reads 1001. This is the setting for KPH. using the long/short press method above, set this to 1002 for MPH. turn key back off, then on again and the gauge is now set to MPH. Like I said, I had to play with the frequency to get the speed to read correctly. Initially, the speed in MPH was reading about 10% fast (Indicated 50mph - actual speed 45mph). To fix this, i increased the frequency to 50.0, that got ti very close. Some fine tuning to 50.5 got it dead on.” Seems complicated, but there is only one button on the back of the gauge which caters to my room temperature IQ. If I can figure it out, you shouldn't run into any trouble. |

I now think that the broken spokes were caused by the spokes not being seated all the way in the hub so I feel better about the bike. She is a joy to ride here in the mountains.

Indianaman,
Got the calipers in the mail so am ready to measure. I tried taking the cover off the front sprocket last night but gave up as there must be another bolt that I need to remove. I removed four bolts but could not find another. Will take another look today. Three in the photo and another down by the shifter. Where is the other? Pain in the butt not having a center stand. |

Some CB250 have three bolts on the sprocket cover. One on top by the starter and two on the bottom. One on each side of the shift shaft. On these Chinese engine is probably only has the one bolt on bottom. GC only has two. One on top and one on bottom. May just be glued on with the paint. Take a rubber mallet and break the seal.

And just like the Hawk a 17 tooth is a tight fit.

I measure the diameter of the shaft and it appears to be 20mm. Hard to measure without taking the sprocket off. Just to check my measuring I measured the uninstalled 17 tooth sprocket for my new CT70 clone and the hole is 17mm.
Maybe this 17T will fit the DF. https://www.amazon.com/Wingsmoto-Spr.../dp/B010UQKODQ 16T but 17 should fit. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010UQKM92..._t2_B010UQKODQ |
