That was my butcher job with a long saws all blade. I did clean it up after I took the picture. I took a long ride yesterday. It's running a little lean now. I'm going to have to bump up the main to a 117.5 or 120. I have a 120 but I think that will be too rich so I need to order a 117.5.

Let's hope not!! One of the charms of the Hawk (and siblings) is how simple they are, and how easy to tune. That all goes out the window with electronic fuel injection...ARH

that's a good point. Just keep letting the gas drip down and into the piston without electronics. I'll save my battery for the starter

Carburetors don't work that way, they work according to the (latent) laws of physics. Essentially, if you put a restriction in a piece of pipe connected to a source of vacuum on one side of the pipe, and open to the atmosphere on the other side, there will be a temporary spike in the vacuum level at the end of the restriction. This is not a static vacuum, but more like a vacuum cleaner, a more or less continious flow of reduced pressure air going into the source of the vacuum. Somewat like the vacuum cleaner where the room air rushes into the hose, carrying the dirt on the floor with it. So, by connecting a pool of gasoline to the engine side of the restriction in our pipe, atmospheric pressure pushes the fuel up into the reduced pressure area behind the restriction. Really kind of clever, the way it works, wouldn't you agree?...ARH

Besides, would you trust a Chinese fuel injection system? How about if you were in the middle of NO and Where? Don’t get me wrong, CSC has FI on its RX3 and it seems to work great. But like Ariel said, carbs are so easy. Mikuni carb clones are so inexpensive, you can have a spare one in your top box/trunk.
On a similar note, Kawasaki re-released the KLX 250 with FI. I wonder how much more the TT250 would cost with FI? Have a great day!

Double take mirrors on the Hawk!
After dropping my bike and breaking the mirror mount on the clutch lever, it was time to try something else. These first pefectly! Comes with a ball stud that screws into the original clutch and break levers.

Ordered an intake gasket for a CRF230 in my relentless search for a bolt on socket style insulator intake manifold. The flange is extremely similar, so I have a feeling the intake could be made to work. I should find out in a few days.

Not really...... Injection has it's advantages... I took me a while to get my head around how it all works.... just like a carb dose... only real disadvantage is if it craps out it can be alot harder to find the issue... but they are pretty dam relieable just like cars are now... I can richen or lean out my XT660 while riding down the road just a simple turn of a nob on the handle bars... if i'm just crusing I can lean it to use less fuel... come to a hill or go of road richen it for more power... i put a 1ohm pentometer in the air box temp sencer wire so I can tell lies to the ECU about the air temp..... tell the ECU the air is colder than it is and ECU richens the mixture / tell it the air is hotter and it leans it out.. the air temp sencer still works as normal but at a lower or higher air temp range than it normaly would.... the ECU has built in scale that it will not go out side of , so no way to make it to lean or rich and shit the motor the ECU just won't let that happen.... a simple little $8 trick that's like stoping and changeing jets 6 times in a ride.. ..

After having these, the mirrors are a little less vibes while viewing rear traffic compared to my stock Hawk mirrors. I like em!

I added a rubber bushing to the crf exhaust mount. the oem pipe did have a rubber bushing mount. I've got some pretty good clearance under my air box for heat dissipation. Also, added from a tube a little bit of rubber under the tank
