In some ways I guess this allows me to start fresh. There was always a few ideas rolling around in my head, and I kind of have a different idea of how I want to build the bike this time around.
More aggressive tires than the 705. I am thinking a set of 700's or 244's paired with a tubliss setup. Also thinking about converting to a round headlight setup with an LED headlight like a Daymaker or Trucklite. The part I am trying to decide is if I eant to go with a 5 3/4 or a bigger 7 inch. I was never fully impressed with the Hawk headlight, even with a brighter bulb installed. Like the last time, I will probably change out the regular ebay muffler for something else. Not sure what yet, but I have a couple in mind. There are also some practical mods I want to do. The rear rack for the tt250 comes to mind with some sort of top box for holding tools and what not. I could ramble for days lol

Great news all around, Dan! Personally, I'm glad you got the Hawk. I'm pretty sure I speak for the entire forum when I say we feel like we all have a special connection and sympathy to your plight, whether everyone was able to donate to the cause or not. We're all very excited for you, and hope to have a running monologue about the bikes arrival, unpacking and assembly, and all those farkles you have planned. I'm very happy that this story turned out this way for you.

Glad to hear you are getting back on the "horse" or in this case "Hawk" as it were. I was going to suggest why not a TT250 but you guys got there yourselves already lol Now in terms of if you want to go to a round headlight may i suggest this one? https://www.ledfactorymart.com/colle...arley-davidson I run this very light on my Deuce and it performs great. In fact i bought mine on the very simple fact that most of the HOG riders around here recommended it over the actual HD Daymaker. Low Beam High Beam Also in terms of security upgrades...may i suggest an airbag charge hidden in the seat?

Tubliss http://tubliss.com/
In simple terms, it's a rim lock that seats the bead in a full 360 around the rim and completely seals off the spoke nipples allowing you to run tubeless. You can literally run down to 0 PSI if desired, and it has been tested as such as well. A bit pricey - you can get a Front and Rear kit for $180, and somewhat unnecessary unless you want to do some serious off roading. I had planned on a camping/adventure trip with my Hawk this year and wanted to fit these with different tires. This basically is me just taking that same step with the new one. The biggest appeal to me with this setup is that you can carry a normal patch kit instead of extra tubes. Takes up less space.

What I would really love to see is a Hawk style bike with a 450cc single like the one found in the SR450. Or even a Hawk with simply the NC250 engine from the LXR/RX3. Something less hardcore than a race dirt bike, but more off road than an adventure bike that you could go run some trails and have some fun, but also practical and full framed. If I had the capital to pull it off I would honestly start my own company and sell just that lol. I really like that light, and the price is reasonable. How is it for distance? That always seems to be the downfall of many LED headlights. I was very pleased with the Trucklite 27270C I installed on my GL1000. Distance is the biggest weakness of the stock Hawk headlight.

I'm a huge Tubliss fan, but one cautionary note: the high pressure inner must be checked every day and kept over 100psi. I carry one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0055...e+bicycle+pump And check the pressure every time. It just takes a few seconds. Generally after a few days you get an idea of how well it will hold pressure. (They seem to stabilize and hold well if you are riding every day.) I also run a few ounces of Stan's tire sealant. I haven't had to deal with a flat tire on my bike for thousands of miles. Can't stress enough what a bad day you can have if you don't check the high pressure religiously. |

That still doesn't give me my 450cc version either. That's the important one.

I found The Sunl Group has a 250cc and a 300cc on the EPA list. Not sure if it's the same engines though.

These are water cooled versions. About 22hp for the 250cc and 24hp for the 279cc
