OMFG do our clutch plates LOVE 15W-40.
I'm on oil change N0.4 and No.1 was crap, 2&3 were Honda 4 stroke which happens to be 10W-30, but I decided to try some Shell stuff (not syn of course) and it feels like a different clutch. It was OK before, but now it just grabs and no between gears neutral nonsense either. Problem is for us Ontario boys we are already at the limits of the temperature range for it, in my opinion anyway. By the time it hits minus 15 or so it will be like a chunk of grease in your crankcase. Maybe swap down to 10W or 5W, probably 5W. Just thought I'd mention it.

Oh, forgot.
The manual? The dipstick? Ignore it. Remember my dipstick was chewed off so it was useless from the get go. My 200cc beast just took 1 3/4 liters of oil. Its had an hour and a half to drain back in to the case...know where the sightglass is? (yeah on the engine case ha ha), I mean the sightglass level? Barely at the "H" for Hi mark. I expect a bit more will drain down overnight, but still...almost 2 liters and I wouldnt get perturbed if i DID put 2 liters in it. I sincerely doubt its going to hydrolock on you with an extra 1/4 liter.

I've thought the same thing. I'm convinced that the dipstick should be the shorty model, not the full length version they shipped.

After all this would you buy it over again? And if you don't mind me asking, what did it cost, and where did you get it?

There are quite a few others that I'm sure will weigh in on their Beasts. I for one, am in a different spot, since I bought mine off Craigslist in a non running condition, so don't have as much investment cash wise, but it's been fun so far! |

I'd buy another one, but I like working on it even more than riding it. Sick, I know.
I bought mine from Gio, and IIRC, it was around $900 delivered (Canadian).

I'd get another beast if needed, and with the help i got on here, i knew to do all the mods first, i did the Mikuni carb, Performance shocks, Performance CDI, performance exhaust ( then changed the muffler to the monster one ) and relocated the battery to make more room for the air filter, also changed battery to a 12AH one.
All in all it was a good purchase, mine was about $775 delivered and after all the upgrades i've got about $1000 into it. |

Based on the pictures they both appear to use Lifanoid powerplants.

Thanks for the input guys, I am concerned that some of these sellers will sell anything they can get. I bought a unit that had great reviews from Vbike a year ago, and it was a "new" unit, and it was junk!!!!!! I have to think that Tim did not know the low level of quality and he never added it to his website.
That is why I am a little bit gun shy! |

Me too. There are 2 local ChinaBike ATV dealers I might check out. It might be worth a 100-200 dollar premium to buy locally, or 300-400 considering the cost of shipping.
