What are you using for a frame?

We have an old Yamaha YB100 that will donate forks, a steering stem, a swingarm and two wheels. The rest of the frame will be scratch-built.

It will be much like the Native philosophy on canoe building: you start with a log, and carve away everything that isn't a canoe.

Right on, I can't wait to see it progress it sounds like a cool project. I'm sure you'll have to modify the fender mounting brackets, but if you can make it fit the it should work out.

Here's the cb350

Not much good stuff on it though... The tank isn't great but you may be able to bang out the dents and bondo it, and then seal it, but for the effort and cost it's probably better to just find one that will work better with less effort.

That's true, and the tank shape isn't as sweet as your CL. Is the pitted fender from a CL? It's more of what I'm after than a CB.

Yeah it's from the CL, I found one with non pitted chrome on ebay so I replaced it.... I also have the old bars if you can use them but they probably don't suit it, it's got the cross brace or whatever you would call it.

This bike exists only in my head and in a pile of junk on the floor right now, so I'll consider any parts. Still not sure if the engine I picked up will do what I want. I'll have fun trying.

Worst case, I'll stick a 125 engine in it and forget the scooter idea.

It's probably easiest for SonOfW&G to go through the graduated licensing with his class 5 first so he can just go for the bike license with out the graduated stuff... Granted they've changed the rules quite a bit since I went through getting a license... I've also heard about them planning to add restrictions on displacement and such based on length of time with a license...

A scooter is a cheap and easy way to get your feet wet, without any real speed. Yeah, he'll be getting his Class 5 first.

It does look good. I wonder how the exhaust is, if it's in decent shape and you just wanted to part it out you could easily make that back by selling it. It's probably got holes int he muffler though. Still for $300 it looks like quite a deal... You could offer him $225 or something... :wink: (I would be interested if it was in Canada)

I appreciate the offer Doc, the issue isn't the location, just the paperwork... I know it can be done, but the paperwork to export a vehicle from the USA and then to import it to Canada is more then I want to get into. I shouldn't need many parts for mine now anyways

Doc, I emailed and asked how the pipes were, they replied and said they look good with no rust, maybe you need another bike :wink:
