I've never made it to Yosemite. Growing up one of my first outdoors books had a picture of Half Dome on the cover. I've always wanted to go there. Great pics. That looked like a real nice time.

Stew, I like flying myself...I've also only been in a heli a few times. I watched the pilot doing about 6 things at one time, between his hands and feet... 8O decided that I didn't really want to fly helis... Then I decided to try an RC version...Yep, takes a bit more effort than the planes do... my hands were constantly making small corrections to keep it in a steady hover, whereas, my planes were trimmed for "hands off" flight. LOL!
Yes helicopters, IMO, are much harder to fly than airplanes, and airplanes are by no means easy. My buddy Ron, a Marine helicopter pilot (retired) for 17 years bought me a helicopter lesson for my birthday a few years ago. OMG was it hard to fly! Not for me... 8O

Airplanes make sense; they respond to Bernoulli's principle, which gives the wings lift.
Helicopters just beat the air into submission.

This is one of our favourite spots (sorry for the crummy photos, next time I'll use Mrs. Weldangrind's SLR). Deception Pass bridges Whidbey Island with Fidalgo Island in NW Washington State.
This is the view to the East: The Western view:

Here's a pic from my Maule forum. This guy keeps his Maule on skis in his backyard! In the summer it's on floats.
Alaska, of course. 8)
