Yeah, postponed is probably a better word.

There were scheduling issues at work.

Sucks! Do you know when you'll be able to take time off?

Yep. Taking the Monday after Easter, then Tue thru Fri the following week. I tacked those ahead of the non-negotiable week of the 15th. So, two weeks in April.

There was another reason for the postponement. She Who Must Be Obeyed decided that if I was off this week, I WILL yank the carpeting in her sewing room and lay down new hardwood flooring. I mentioned, vocally, that it was agreed last year that I would no longer use vacation time for home remodeling projects. If this game was going to be played again, I'd postpone my vacation. Which I did.

I'm still doing the floor, but only doing two hours a day on it. She Who Must Be Obeyed is doing a slow burn about it.

Too bad. :P

Since I'm at six weeks a year now, I lose that argument. That's acceptable, because I still have other weeks that I can take for bike maintenance and shop projects, and I have evenings and weekends.

I'm happy to report that most of the major renos are behind me, and we're out of reno cash for the year.

I'll take time off for maintenance and repairs, no issues there.

But when someone is 'tired of the kitchen cabinets' or 'I don't like the color of this room anymore'. No, not anymore.:x I would rather slam my hand in a car door, repeatedly, than repaint a room because of a whim. The fact that I get no help plays into it, too.

I know, curmudgeon. My feeling on a house are, If there is wood for the fireplace, the roof doesn't leak, and the toilet flushes, what more do you need?

I understand. I am also not 'home oriented'. :?

I moved into my new house 11 months ago. It is still for the most part unfurnished, and I have put up no pictures or anything...

Aside from some of Linda's girly stuff here and there you'd hardly know anyone but cats live there. The garage is nicely done up though. :P

The idea of painting a room that is already painted is alien to me. I can't imagine anything to like, or dislike, or 'be tired from' regarding kitchen cabinets.

I'm a bachelor to the core.

Feeling your pain. There has been a lot of magic wand waving at Chez Weldangrind, without much actual assistance.

Occasionally, I'll get the Chez Fromage women so P. O.ed at me, I'll have silence for at least a week. The following was classic.

'bout a dozen years ago, my oldest was home from college for the summer and got this great idea about building a raised flower bed in front of the house. So, her and I go to one of the local home improvement stores and I get about 250 pavers(it was enough that it took two trips with the F2). With 90F temp. and humidity to match, I'm unloading pavers two at a time while both curds and my wife are just standing there and watching me. After about 10 minutes, I dropped two pavers right off the tailgate and stink-eyed the three of them. I walked over to my shop truck, grabbed three orange safety vests, handed one to each of them, and told 'em, "If you're going to stand around like a country road crew, you might as well look the part."

Daggers for a week.

Finally, back at it today. Got the updated timing chain guides and supports in and reattached the rear cover to the engine before my tootsies got cold and I got hungry. I had no leftover bolts, so that's a good thing.

A few pics. The latest and greatest timing chain supports on the upper left. Old, old, old style on the lower right. The small triangle thingy is NOS.

Early tensioner on the left, latest and greatest on the right.

A nosy basta.....er, my little buddy checking up on me.

As soon as I can feel my toes again, I'll go get the starter and waterpump in and be done with the backside of the engine. I'm hoping to have things up and running by the weekend.

If for nothing else, to run to PA and throttle that frickin' groundhog.
