Too bad he's looking for a pit bike. Still, you won't have any trouble selling it when the time comes.

A serpentine belt is cake on every vehicle I've worked on. It just takes a 1/2" breaker bar and it usually slips into a square hole in the tensioner bracket. Pull on the bracket and the belt just about falls off.

If there isn't a diagram on the rad support, make sure you draw one first so you know how to route the new belt.

The pic he posted is of a pit bike, but this is America. Bigger is better! Plus I'm asking for less than PP asks for their pit bikes. I've not heard from him BTW.

Thanks for the encouragement on the fanbelt, Weld. I'm sure I'll egt it done OK, it's just that I've never done one. There is a diagram on a decal.

This was a first.

The speedometer cable casing broke at the hub. Not the cable but the casing.

Now get this. For some reason I saved 2 of Q's cable casings, without the inner cable which was broken from Q. The casings were an exact match! So I replaced the casing and all is good. I even have another spare if this replacement fails.

So it turns out that XY cloned a Suzuki speedometer cable.

This may be helpful to someone.

1,250 miles. :P

That just goes to show you; it pays to save stuff! Nice fix, Doc.

It's a small thing, but a God thing . I had no reason to save those casings. Another miracle is I knew where they were and found them right away.

It is wise to appreciate all our blessings, especially the little ones.

I wonder if several bikes use that specific cable and housing; it seems reasonable that other makes and models would accept the same gland nut.

Of course, I'm not downplaying the obvious divine help.

pp400

doc and other pp400 owners ,I finally found the oil leak that mine had since new,I degreased the area and started it up and watched.oil was seeping out around the oil filter cover,,,upon further inspection the O-ring was smashed on about 1/3 of its surface,,,,,do they give you a new o-ring with a new filter?

Mine was doing that too. I replaced the O-Ring right away after I got the bike home. It did not leak enough to lose anything, but it was annoying. I hate leaks.

BTW, Fish, if you have a manual how are we suposed to check the oil in these things? Screw the dipstick cap in or not? Fill it to the first mark or the second? Bike vertical I assume?

I've been treating it like an XR (which the bottom end sorta is) and not screwing the dipstick in and filling it to the second mark.

Thanks in advance. :P

1,400 miles.

Thanks, Fish.

Some brands of filters come with the O-Ring. Fram I think is an example. I used one from a O-Ring storehouse kit from Harbor Freight. They are fairly standard. Bring yours to the hardware store and match it up with something. Cheap and easy.

Hmmm, My harbor freight kit didnt have any this big,but thanks for the hardware store suggestion.Like you i think this could be a a good bike,,especially if PITSTER would stand behind them,,,thats the part that concerns me most cause not enough is known about what fits the pp400,and getting info or parts from pitster is like the pirates winnin the world series,,,,it aint happenin!

I don't follow sports but I know enough about baseball to know that that analogy is funny, but sad and likely correct. :(
